Thomask August 20, 2015 for Model Number ds4500eb1ww GE Electric dryer ds4500eb1ww, elements remain hot after dry cycle has completed. Thermostat or other cycle sensor?
1 Answer Hello ThomasK. You will need to check and see if the element is grounded out and needs to be replaced in the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Glenda September 02, 2014 for Model Number GE MODEL # DBXR463ED2WW Our dryer will run for hours on end, and gets so hot we cannot touch the top. The timer barely moves from its original position, requiring manual advancing to the stop position. The vent has been cleaned, so that is not the problem. Could this be due to a faulty thermostat? If not, what would your suggestion be as to the cause of this overheating? Look forward to your answer.
1 Answer Hello Glenda. Yes, it could be the thermostat or the timer may be bad on the unit. Test for power to the timer motor. If it is there, and it is not moving, replace the timer. Venkat June 27, 2014 for Model Number dpsb613ed1ww Thanks for helping. Dryer starts and heat fine for few minutes and then it suddenly switches to Delicate/lowheat mode. When you press the high heat again, runs for few minutes and back to Delicate/lowheat mode. I see the Orange colour behind the drum when running. also I checked the element which shows 20 ohms +20 ohms (2 coils). I checked the Thermistor (thermodisc) which seems fine. all the thermostats show continuity when dryer is off. Not sure what is the issue. But sometimes the entire high heat cycle works.
1 Answer Venkat, Your post would indicate all the heating components are working properly. So the issue would most likely be in the control board WE4M296, either the relay is failing, and "drops" out or the board is selecting the low heat setting on it's own due to a loose or weak solder joint. G. May 22, 2014 for Model Number DBXR463ED2WW Dryer shuts off before clothes are dry. We checked and cleaned all vents and internal lint was cleaned. I changed out a high limit stat but it still cuts off early before clothes are dry even when pulled away from wall so that it has free discharge flow.
1 Answer Hello G., This is most likely the timer but you should test the resistor WE4M255 and the centrifugal switch in the motor WE17X10010 before ordering parts. Read More...
Mike March 30, 2014 for Model Number RED4100SQO The cycling thermostat # on the back L155 this the temperature it turns off at what temperature should it turn back on? Does this thermostat control any heated cycle on/off heat? Thanks, Mike
1 Answer Mike, The cycling thermostat will control all heated cycle on/off heat in this unit. The heater will cut out at 155 degrees and cut in at approximately 105 degrees. The correct part number for the cycling thermostat for your unit is WP694674. Read More...
Dave February 10, 2014 for Model Number GTDP300EN1WS Hi, Our dryer runs and dries clothes, but it takes between 100 - 150 minutes to do the job (up to 2 whole cycles). Would this be a cycling thermostat problem (WE4M216)? Or something else? Thanks for any help with this, Dave
1 Answer Hello Dave. It sounds like the venting system is clogged or kinked. You will need to check the vent and clean it out. Be sure and clean the vent pipe and the dryer air duct assembly. If the air flow is not good, the unit will retain moist air causing the clothes not to dry. Try running the unit with the vent unhooked from the back of the dryer and see if the dryer works properly. George Z. January 03, 2014 for Model Number DRSR495EG8WW My dryer dries & cycles to the off position on the timed function only . The other settings dry the cloths but they do not advance to the stop setting.I replaced the timer recently without any change in its operation.Any thoughts about what may be wrong?
1 Answer George, First check and make sure there are no kinks, clogs or debris in the exhaust vent system and vent hood. This situation affects the air flow, causes the hi limit switch to open and the dryer timer will not advance. Check the exhaust temperature at the back of the dryer. The average exhaust temp should be approximately 135 dgrs.F. (+/- 10 %). If all checks are OK, you'll need to open the control panel and check or replace the PCB board WE04X10102 Read More...

Chuck July 22, 2013 for Model Number DBXR453EV0WW My dryer does not shut off in the Automatic Cycling, but does shut off when the timer is used. It gets really HOT and does not seem to be effected by selection a different temp. Now I understand there are 2 differenct thermostats on my unit, accessable under the rear panel. The video only shows the AP2042518 theromstat. Will these show open or closed if the temp is always HOT?
1 Answer Hello Chuck. Check the vent first on the unit. If the vent is good, then you may need ot replace the thermostat WE4M216 on the unit. It should open and close as the temperature rises and falls. Read More...
Donna July 10, 2013 for Model Number GTDP300EM1WS My dryer works and shuts off at the right time but the clothes are too hot. I checked and the vents are not clogged. Is it the thermostat?
1 Answer Donna, If the unit is getting too hot then the cycling thermostat would most likely be the cause of the unit overheating. Read More...
