The washer timer is an OEM part for GE washing machines. This timer controls the various cycles of the washing machine, including wash, rinse, and spin cycles. By regulating the duration and sequence of each cycle, the timer ensures that the washing machine operates smoothly and efficiently.

Causes of a bad timer washer can include electrical failures, wear and tear from regular use, or internal mechanical issues. A faulty timer can lead to problems with the timing and execution of the wash cycles, potentially leaving clothes unwashed or causing the machine to stop unexpectedly.

Symptoms of a bad timer washer include:

  • The washer not advancing through cycles
  • The washer stopping mid-cycle
  • Inconsistent or incorrect cycle timing
  • The timer knob not turning or becoming stuck

This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Questions & Answers

For Ge Timer Washer (Part Number: OEM16935654)

Evelyn, the front panel of the washer would need to be removed to observe the motor WH20X10093 status LED. If there is a flash pattern, the amount of times it flashes before it pauses would need to be identified as this can indicate a failure. Another test that can be done is testing the violet wire with a white stripe on the motor for 120VAC when it should be agitating. If there is voltage, the dark blue wire would need to be tested for 120VAC. If there is voltage on both wires, the motor has failed. If there is not voltage, it would be likely that the timer WH12X10527 has failed or there is a broken wire.

Magan, the pressure switch WH12X10065 would need to be tested for continuity from terminal 7 to terminal 15. If there is not continuity when the washer is empty of water and the pressure hose going to the tub is not clogged, the switch has failed and would need to be replaced.

Hello Ronald, While the timer could be the issue, it is recommended by the manufacturer to remove the front panel and look between the top of the motor and the splash guard that is mounted to the top of the motor. The flashing of the LED should be counted as this is how this unit gives the fault codes. The tech sheet in the control panel explains what each code means. Please let us know if you require further assistance.

John, When you start the washer check to see if there is 120 vac to the water valve. If there is not 120 vac then the timer will most likely be the issue and if there is then the water valve will most likely be the cause.

Hello Ken, This is going to be either the dial assembly WH11X10049, the control knob assembly WH01X10310, or the timer assembly WH12X10527. You will need to pull the knob off to inspect the parts to determine the part at fault. To remove the knob straighten a paper clip and make a 1/8 inch 90° bend at the very end of it. Use this to hook the timer knob clip WH1X2117 and pull it out from the side. The knobs will then slip off.

Hello Curt. Look on top of the motor for a flashing green light. Count the number of flashes and this is an error code for the unit. If there is no error, then replace the timer.
