The Ice Maker Water Line is an OEM replacement part for GE refrigerators. It is an important supply line that delivers water from the main water source to the icemaker component. The water line allows water to flow smoothly, facilitating the icemaking process.

Causes of a bad water line can include cracks or punctures from impact or bending, mineral deposits and corrosion building up inside the line restricting flow, or improper connection fittings causing leakage.

Symptoms of a bad ice maker water line include:

  • Irregular or insufficient ice production
  • No water delivery to the icemaker despite activation
  • Noticeable leaks or drips near the water line attachment points
  • Strange knocking or hammering sounds are heard when the icemaker is running

This OEM GE part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

For Ge Ice Maker Water Line (Part Number: OEM9617994)

Saul, The part number for the 1/4" tube would be WR2X9245. For the way that the tubing is connected to the water valve would be the tube that is on the left from the filter going down the back of the unit would go to the orange connection point on the valve. The other tubing will go to the gray connection point. The other larger tube will go to the larger opening on the valve and the 1/4" tube will go to the smaller port.

Hello Mukund. It sounds like your talking about the 5/16" line and you can use a union connector WR02X11330 and cut out the bad section and install this to fix the leak.

Ken L for Model Number TFX30PPBGBB

Several of the water lines on my fridge are leaking. There is one line that runs from the original solenoid/valve to the filter, then another runs back from the filter to another valve behind the original valve. Then two tubes leave that valve assembly, one goes to the door to dispense water and the other goes to the icemaker. The first three tubes all appear to be the same size but the icemaker tube appears to be different. What part numbers do I want for the first three tubes and which part number for the icemaker tube? Are the first three 5/16" and is the icemaker tube 1/4"? Thanks Ken League

Ken, The tubing that runs from the valve to the filter and then back to the secondary valve would be part of the filter head assembly which is part number WR17X10452 which has been discontinued with no replacement available. The tubing that goes from the secondary valve to the dispenser would be part of the water tank and is part number WR17X4358. The tubing for the icemaker would be part number WR17X11349.

Margaret, It sounds like the tubing to the water valve is broken. This would most likely be the water line that goes to the water tank of the unit.

Hello Greg. It sounds like the valve has a slow leak and will need to be replaced on the unit.

Hello Paul, There should be a clamp at the top of the tube that holds it to the fill tube. The bottom will either have a screw on type connector or a john guess fitting. This end will connect to the water valve. If it is a john guess fitting you will need to push it toward the valve and press in on the ring around the line at the same time. While holding the ring in, pull on the line to remove it. To re-insert the line, push it in and then push even harder. It should "pop" in about 1/4 of an inch further. Now simply pull on the line to seat the seal.

Blazer, The tube, where it connects to the water valve, there is a ring on the water valve around the tube that you push in on and pull out on the tube at the same time.

Jerry, Based on the information, you need the "Water Fill Tube" WR2X8668 This is the plastic tube that inserts into the grommet on the back of the refrigerator and extends into the freezer compartment and aligns with the fill cup of the ice maker.
