  • Provides positive shutoff when the control is in the OFF position

  • Can resolve gas odor from the valve/manifold area
  • Correct knobs that are hard to turn, bind, or won't fully shut off
What's included:
  • 1 valve control assembly
Install notes:
  • Disconnect power and shut off the gas supply before servicing
  • Remove control knobs/panels to access the assembly; note orientation and transfer any fittings as configured on your unit
  • Apply approved thread sealant on NPT connections if required; tighten fittings securely without overtightening
  • Leak-test all connections with soapy water or an approved detector before use; verify proper burner operation after reassembly

1 Answer

Brian, Check the burner tube to ensure that there are no clogs in the ports and no rust around the ports. This is the most common cause for this issue.

Chris for Model Number PGB918SEM4SS

Good afternoon, The flames on the 2 front burners are not level. This causes pans to have hot spots. The flames are noticeably higher on the sides of the burners closest to the edges of the stove. I have difficulty lighting the left front side. A small section will light. If I tap the top ring the wrest will light. It almost seems like to match gas. The stove is set up for propane and has the correct propane orifices . The stove has worked fine until this started happening recently. I have cleaned the orifices etc. Another issue that may be related is that when I use the oven I notice a "black soot" residue will get on oven window and a little residue on dish. Thank you, Chris

1 Answer

Chris, the black soot would indicate an improper gas pressure being applied. You may want to check the regulator to ensure that there are no restrictions. Another possibility is that the gas tank supply may be getting low.

Hello Bob, If the oven is set up properly for the gas that is supplied to the unit, (Natural or LP), you either have an issue with the burner WB16K10035 or the gas valve WB19K10043.

Hello Angela. Usually this is caused by a dirty burner or orifice in the unit. You will need to clean both the burner and the orifice and make sure they are dry. Then see if the flame works properly.

Wayne D for Model Number CGS980SEM655

We have a GE gas range Model No. CGS980SEM655 about 5 years old. When we light the right rear burner (the smallest one - simmer) it will light but then the flame goes out after a few seconds. Sometimes it will not go completely out and will recover. Once it does, it seems to work fine but one time it went out later. I've discovered that if I light the Right Front burner first and turn it off, the Right Rear lights without a problem. This is the only burner that has a problem. I ruled out the Valve Control Assembly since it feeds all burners. I'm thinking of purchasing the Valve Burner (No. 270) but only two part numbers are shown (WB21K10096 and 10097). Is this my problem and which Valve Burner should I buy? Thanks, Wayne Davison

1 Answer

Wayne, This issue sounds like it would most likely be caused by a burner valve that is faulty. The part number for the valve would be WB21K10096.

R. Turner, With this issue you will want to check the pressure coming to the unit. This does sound more likely an issue with the regulator on the unit.
