The Water Inlet Valve is an OEM part for GE refrigerators. It controls the flow of water into the refrigerator’s ice maker and water dispenser, ensuring a consistent and regulated water supply. The valve opens and closes in response to electrical signals, allowing water to enter the appliance as needed.

Causes of a bad water inlet valve can include mineral buildup from hard water, wear and tear over time, or electrical faults. A malfunctioning valve can lead to issues with water flow and ice production, impacting the refrigerator's performance.

Symptoms of a bad water inlet valve include:

  • No water flow to the ice maker or water dispenser
  • Slow or inconsistent water flow
  • Leaking water around the valve
  • Ice maker not producing ice

This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

PW, Make sure that the filter that you used is a GE RFID filter. If it is not then this will be the issue as it will not allow filtered water without the RFID in the unit unless you have the Bypass in. Also make sure that the filter is full seated and if it is then this may be a faulty RFID Board that is causing the issue.

PW, You will want to make sure that you use the OEM filter for this unit. If you installed a filter and it is not the correct one then this will be the issue. The unit uses an RFID board WR55X35905 and must have filter part number RPWFE installed. After market filters will not work. If you used the correct filter then the issue will likely be with the RFID board.
