The Water Inlet Valve is an OEM replacement part for GE refrigerators. As a key component in the refrigerator's water delivery system, the inlet valve is responsible for controlling the flow of water from the main water line into the refrigerator. It precisely regulates water pressure and quantity to ensure optimal performance of the ice maker and water dispenser.

Causes of a bad water inlet valve can include mineral or sediment buildup interfering with water flow, wear and tears to seals or internal components, or damage from freezing.

Symptoms of a bad valve include:

  • Slow or inconsistent fill times for the ice maker or water dispenser
  • Odd sounds or grinding noises coming from the valve area
  • Water leaks in or around the valve
  • The ice maker or water dispenser failing to operate properly or at all

This OEM GE part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore refrigerators.

For Ge Valve (Part Number: OEM11119350)

Matt for Model Number B22CS50SNS/01

When we go to pour water from the chilled water dispenser it will fill the glass about half way before it then starts to stutter. I replaced the water inlet valve but that didn't make a difference. When I replaced the water filter it works well for about a day then started stuttering again. When I drained the current filter and replaced it, the water flowed well for about two glasses and then started the shuttering. About three weeks ago the ice maker started inconsistently making ice then stopping. I pulled the back and tried to measure the voltage at the valve, but I don;t get a reliable DC or AC voltage. With that said, the banging seems to be coming from much higher in the fridge the inlet valve seems to work just find. Is there some other mechanism associated with the filter I could check? What voltage should I be reading at the spade terminals for the water inlet valve? Help :)

Vincent, There should not be 111 vac at the icemaker without the icemaker cycling. If there is voltage then this would be a icemaker issue.

Jerry, Pull out your ice container and at the back you will see a metal piece sticling out. That piece must go inside a square plastic part connected to a solenoid inside the rear cover. If it does go inside that you are probably going to have to replace your solenoid.I was having trouble pulling up your model to give you an replacement part.

Bill, You will want to make sure that the unit has a good filter in it and make sure that the water valve is passing water through it. If the water valve is passing water through it then this will be a faulty filter head assembly. If there is no water passing through then this will be a faulty water valve.

Randall, If there is not power at the water valve when the unit is calling for water then this will be a faulty icemaker assembly. If there is power then check the fill tube to make sure that the tube is not frozen.

Jim for Model Number GSS20GEWGWW

Good Morning, My GE Ice maker is overfilling just enough so that the ice cubes are all connected as one unit when the leave the ice maker and drop into the tray. (This of course makes it impossible for the auger to dispense the cubes through the door) I do not believe that this model as an adjustment screw for the water intake/ size of ice cube? I looked for +/- adjustment.... didn't see an indicator. Would you replace the water inlet valve, the icemaker, or both? Thanks

1 Answer

Hello Jim. I would replace the water valve on the unit first. If issue continues, replace the icemaker.

Hello Bobby. If you turn off the icemaker and it stopped, then the icemaker is bad and will need to be replaced in the unit.

Terry, You will want to let the icemaker cycle and check to see if there is 120 vac getting to the water valve. If there is but no water to the icemaker then the water valve would need replaced. If there is no power to the water valve then the icemaker would need replaced.
