The Dispenser Touchpad is an OEM replacement part for LG refrigerators. As an interface part, it plays a key role in allowing users to control dispensed water types and amounts.

Symptoms of a bad dispenser touchpad can include:

  • Inability to dispense water or select temperatures as inputs are unresponsive
  • Stuck or non-responsive buttons that don't register selection presses
  • Error messages displaying related to touch control failures

Causes may involve moisture penetration degrading internal circuitry or normal component wear/failure over lengthy usage.

This genuine OEM LG part is also compatible with some select Kenmore brand models.

Mike for Model Number RF23HCEDBSR/AA-0000

I purchased this model brand new and just had it delivered. While removing a warning sticker that came on the front of the touchscreen display panel it peeled away part of a plastic film membrane covering the control display panel. I am not sure if this should be remove as it appears to be a protective coating that is supposed to remain there for daily operation. I do not know if I can or should try and peel it away and if so do I need to replace it with a new plastic coating? Or do I need to replace the entire display panel? Again, this is a thin plastic coating but different from the plastic installed elsewhere when it came packaged from shipping. What bothers me is that it tore so easily. I can share a picture if you like. Please advise thank you

Mike, That protective coating is to be removed and is there for the purpose of shipping so that the display does not get scratched or damaged while shipping.

Mike, You will want to remove the drip tray and put your hand at the bottom of the dispenser and push down and pull out on the dispenser assembly. This will allow the dispenser to be removed and access any screws from the back.

Penni, The control has a piece of plastic over it that is to be removed when the unit is brought into the home and is just there to keep the control from getting scratched. If this is the film that you are referring to then just peel it off. If the entire membrane is peeling away from the display then you would need part number ACQ85430286.

Leaett, You will want to make sure that what is peeling is not a protective cover on the display. Also make sure that you are not using chemicals and just use soap and water to clean it.

Donaldi for Model Number LFX31945ST/05

The plastic film is peeling and discolored at the top, bottom, and sides of the control panel. The plastic is much thicker than the thin film we removed from many parts of the fridge when it was installed about a year ago. We have tried to remove the plastic, but it is very brittle and almost "glued on" to the areas where it is not peeling. We honestly cannot determine whether this plastic should or should not be on the control panel...? Does anyone know if it should or should not have been removed? If it should be removed, how does one remove it? Thanks in advance for your consideration of this frustration situation....

Hello Donaldi. It sounds like the film your referring to is the actual overlay of the display. If so, you will need to order and install MCK66585116 onto the unit. Thank you.

Hello Garret, This is the correct part MCK66585130 for the model provided. You will need to use a knife or similar object to peel the cover off. You will then need to use rubbing alcohol to remove any remaining sticky stuff used by the factory to adhere it to the unit. Then peel off the backing from the new part and stick it in place. Be sure of the placement since it will stick as soon as it touches.
