The Drain Pump and Motor is an original LG (OEM) replacement part for LG made washing machines that is responsible for removing water from the washer at the end of the wash cycle. The pump forces water out through the drain hose so that clothing comes out free of excess water, making the drying process faster.

Symptoms of a failing Drain Pump Motor include:

  • Water not draining out of the washing machine
  • Noisy or unusual sounds coming from the pump area during the drain cycle
  • The washing machine stopping mid-cycle

Causes of a bad Drain Pump Motor can range from obstructions in the pump or hose, which can strain or damage the motor, to wear and tear from regular use leading to motor failure. Electrical issues can also affect the motor's performance, preventing it from operating correctly.

This OEM LG part can also be used on Kenmore/Sears appliances.

Keith, The drain pump 4681EA2001T is the component involved in draining the water from the washer tub, there is no auxillary pumps or components involved. If you checked and made sure the pump casing 3661FR2093E was clear, and there were no articles remaining in the tub to pump or drain hoses, then the drain pump is the issue. The pump will make noise for various reasons, but it's most likely due to a motor bearing failure or impeller that is loose on the motor shaft.

Hello BK, The drain pump 4681EA2001T has to have the impeller separated from the pump motor. I'm confident that if you change the drain pump, the issue will be eliminated, (as long as there are in fact no restrictions in the drain line either between the tub and the pump and between the pump and the stand pipe).
