The Ice Maker Cooling Fan Assembly is an OEM replacement part for LG refrigerators. The purpose of this component is to circulate the air that goes into the ice compartment so that the water freezes in the ice maker to make the ice. It also runs intermittently to ensure the ice that has been made remains frozen.

Causes of a bad cooling fan assembly can include failure of the electric motor or fan blade over time due to prolonged use. Bearing wear is also common with extended operation of moving parts like the fan blade.

Symptoms of a bad cooling fan assembly include:

  • Inconsistent or infrequent ice production
  • Warm spots developing within the freezer compartment
  • Vibrations, rubbing, or grinding noises from the fan motor area
  • Inefficient freezing of items stored in the freezer

Replace yours today with this genuine OEM LG cooling fan assembly to restore optimized temperature control.

This OEM LG part is also compatible with Sears/Kenmore refrigerators.

Howard F for Model Number LG Refrigerator LFX 31945ST

Over the last few years I get error ER 1F. So I take a hair dryer and point down the air vents for the ice maker for about 5 minutes the error code goes away. May last one month or 6 months than I have to do again. About once a year I have to get into the freezer compartment back wall and chip off quite a bit of ice build up. I know one of the issues with the error warning is the ice maker fan. But if use the hair dryer and it is ok for a while I assume the fan itself is good. Could I have an issue with the freezer defrosting hence the ice build up? I hate to just start replacing parts.

Howard, The motor may work but this issue would have to do with drainage issue due to ice that should melt during the defrost. The ice is melting but refreezes due to the drain. The manufacturer has substituted the motor assembly with one that should drain better. The part number is ABA72913413.

Brad, If the error code is cleared then the icemaker should function. If it is not functioning then the issue may be a faulty icemaker thermostat that is not closing to allow the icemaker to eject the ice.
