The Ice Maker Cooling Fan Assembly is an OEM replacement part for LG refrigerators. The purpose of this component is to circulate the air that goes into the ice compartment so that the water freezes in the ice maker to make the ice. It also runs intermittently to ensure the ice that has been made remains frozen.

Causes of a bad cooling fan assembly can include failure of the electric motor or fan blade over time due to prolonged use. Bearing wear is also common with extended operation of moving parts like the fan blade.

Symptoms of a bad cooling fan assembly include:

  • Inconsistent or infrequent ice production
  • Warm spots developing within the freezer compartment
  • Vibrations, rubbing, or grinding noises from the fan motor area
  • Inefficient freezing of items stored in the freezer

Replace yours today with this genuine OEM LG cooling fan assembly to restore optimized temperature control.

This OEM LG part is also compatible with Sears/Kenmore refrigerators.

Hello Wayne, While this sounds like a control board issue, we would really need the model number from the units' I.D. tag so we can pull the wiring configuration of your unit to properly diagnose the issue. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.

Hello Robert. It sounds like the ice fan has failed and will need to be replaced on the unit. You usually do not have to replace the board and the fan motor at the same time. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html The model number will have to be verified on the units I.D. tag since the one listed came up invalid. This will be necessary to look up and specific parts such as the one you requested. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter. We will need your model number to help you with this. Please call 1-877-477-7278 or post your model number with a new question on the parts page. http://www.appliancepartspros.com/modelnumber_locator.aspx

John, Apparently the part that you ordered is the wrong crossover number. It will work but that plug in will not have a place to plug up and would need to just be left disconnected. If you want to have the correct part number it is AEB73785615.

Steve, To remove the shelf, the door has to be able to be opened pas the 90 degree angle. This will allow the shelf to slide past the door shelves in order to remove them for adjustment. If unable to open the door past the 90 degrees then it will be very difficult to get the shelves adjusted.

Maryod for Model Number LMX25964ST

Like numerous others I have the ER IF issue on my LG refrigerator. I've checked several repair parts websites and the schematics for this model don't show the ice fan. Is it the same part number for the LFX25960 model? (5209JA1044A). Some posts refer to a newer model fan that has heater wires to prevent the icing up issue. Does anyone have any information on that part number? Have those who replaced this fan motor had to replace the control board also? Thank you!

1 Answer

Hello Maryod. Yes, replacing the fan motor has fixed the issue for others. On your model, the fan motor ADJ72911304 has been permanently discontinued by the manufacturer and we don't know of any source or replacement for the part.
