The Ice Maker (12 cube) is an OEM part for LG refrigerators. It is responsible for producing ice cubes, typically in batches of 12, and dispensing them into the ice bin for easy access. This ice maker ensures a consistent supply of ice, ideal for everyday use and entertaining guests.

Over time, the ice maker can become faulty due to regular wear and tear, mineral buildup from water, or issues with the internal components such as the motor or the water inlet valve. A malfunctioning ice maker can lead to inefficient ice production or no ice at all.

Symptoms of a bad ice maker include:

  • The ice maker not producing ice
  • Smaller than usual or misshapen ice cubes
  • Leaks or water overflow in the ice maker compartment
  • Unusual noises during the ice-making process

This OEM LG part is also compatible with Sears/Kenmore models.

Hello Don, thank you for contacting APP, This may be an issue with the Ice Dust Cap/Ice Door ABN72938908 not sealing properly due to an issue with the Ice Door or the Ice Door Motor EAU59551204. This will allow air leakage into the unit and usually causes the Ice Bin to begin melting and clumping. The easiest way to test this is to remove the Ice Bin and pour a small amount of water, a few tablespoons worth, into the ice chute and see if it leaks around the door.
