John M January 30, 2018 for Model Number LG Wm2487hwm Error code for thermistor came up. I replaced the thermistor, plugged in and the front control lit up. When I pressed a button the circuit breaker tripped. I than replaced the heater element plugged in and it turned on again. Pressed a button and the machine died. Circuit breaker did not trip. There is power to the machine, to the noise filter and to the PLC MODEM. I plugged the wire into the door switch and in the Main PWB a small white barrel shaped part became very hot ( I think it is a fuse). What could be my next step. I can replace the fuse on the board, get a new board or call a repair guy. If the fuse did blow, then why? If I replace the MainPWB, will it blow again? Please help!!!!!
1 Answer John, With the fuse overheating then this would be a weak fuse and would need to replace the main control board. It is possible that the heater could have caused this to fail. Double check wiring between the heater and thermistor to the control board. Read More...
Daniel January 25, 2017 for Model Number WM2487HWM My washer was giving me an OE error. First, I tested the ohms on the drain pump and it tested fine. Second, I then hooked the pump to 120v direct and the pump works. Third, I hooked up a multi meter to the leads of the drain pump. When I plugged the machine in it was reading a small voltage. (I will test again tonight to get correct voltage.) I then ran the machine in the rinse spin cycle and the multi meter read 120V. I hooked the pump back up and it didn't work so I touched the multi meter to the leads connected to the pump and it read less than 5 volts. The machine works as it should up until the drain cycle. Is the mother board shot or is there something else I need to test? Please guide me in the correct direction.
1 Answer Daniel, With the OE error and low voltage at the drain pump connectors, you need to check the wires between the drain pump and the control board. If all's OK, suspect the main control board. You may also want to disconnect the air tube from the pressure switch, check the tube for kinks and twists, and blow in the end of the tube, to make sure it's not clogged with sediment or debris, if alls OK replace the control board. Daniel January 24, 2017 for Model Number WM2487HWM My washer was giving me the OE error. First, I tested the drain pump resistance and it tested good. I then connected to 120Vac direct and the pump spins. Second, I tested the leads for voltage and when I connect the multimeter it gives me 5 volts when off and when I run washer in the rinse drain cycle it reads 120v. When I connect the pump to the leads and try to test voltage it barely reads 5 volts. Is the motherboard shot? The washer works as it should up until the drain cycle. Can you please direct me in the correct direction?
1 Answer Hello Daniel, This is most likely a bad control. I'm sorry but this part 6871ER1062G has been discontinued by the manufacturer and no satisfactory substitutions have been provided. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter. Read More...
Ben H May 02, 2016 for Model Number WM2487HWM My washing machine wasn't draining 'cause the drain pump wasn't coming on so I replaced the drain pump. The old one looked fried on the outside and I thought this was for sure the problem. Now when the washing machine is started the drain pump comes on immediately when the start button is pushed. It just stays on while the washer load senses and then tries to fill. It just keeps draining as it tries to fill. I am wondering if there is a test with a volt meter that can be done on the main control board to determine if it is really the problem before buying another washing machine or is there a simple fix? Thank you, Ben
1 Answer Ben, With the unit drain pump coming on when the unit is filling then this would most likely be a stuck relay on the control board for the drain. This would be a control board issue. Read More...
Michelle February 16, 2015 for Model Number WM2487HRM I recently wrote you about the issue of the FE code appearing and then the machine not turning on at all. I ordered the PC board as well as the hot and cold water valves and replaced all three parts. The machine seemed to work for a day or two and the there is an additional issue. I will put a load in and select normal cycle. It will start at 56 minutes. It will sense the load and then move on to the wash cycle fine and as soon as it cycles to the rinse cycle it will stop at 33 min. I can hear it draining but it is very loud and cranky sounding. It will spin and it remains stuck at 33 min and does not continue on . I am not sure what the problem can now be. I am hoping you can figure this issue out and help me to resolve this issue. It's so frustrating as well as exhausting being without my washer. look forward to hearing soon....
1 Answer Michelle, You will want to check the drain pump to make sure that there is nothing clogged in the pump that could cause for a long drain issue. The other thing that it could be would be that the pressure switch is not resetting and not allowing the unit to complete the drain/spin portion of the cycle. Read More...
Michelle February 09, 2015 for Model Number WM24877HRM I have the LG front loader and for the past few weeks or so the cycle has been showing a code FE. I will then have to turn of the cold water valve because the water will not stop filling and I cannot stop machine otherwise. Then I will turn the water back on and the door on the washer still won't open so I have to start the cycle over and run it through again. It will run a couple more cycles and then the code will come up again and I will have to do the same thing all over again. Well now this past Friday after the last load finished through I went to start another load and the machine is totally dead. Nothing...no lights no sound nothing..The power coming from the outlet is fine . The power going to the PCB is good to. When I look in the manual the FE code says to shut off water valve and call for service ...Now I think its more than a valve issue..What do you recommend...Please help??
1 Answer Michelle, Based on the issue of what has happened with the unit, the issue is going to be in the control board in which the relay for the fill is bad and the control board would need to be replaced. Read More...
Matt H January 20, 2015 for Model Number WM2487HRM Our washer has been acting up for a couple years now. It started by sometimes not fully completing a wash cycle and shutting off. It would go through all the step and clean, rinse and spin the load but when it was done it would unlock the door and then not fully reset and turn off. The interior light would stay on and in order to user it again you would have to unplug the unit and replug it back in. Then it would work fine. It may do this behavior for three or four loads in a row and then not do it again for a week or a month. So it was just more of an annoyance than anything. Recently it started giving the IE error code mid load. At first we just restarted the load and went on. This occurred maybe a dozen times. Finally the unit started to make a humming noise and the clothes are not getting wet at all.
1 Answer Matt, This issue with the IE error code would be caused by a water inlet error. You will want to check the screens in the water valve to make sure that the screens are not clogged. Also check to make sure that the water valve is getting power when the unit is supposed to be putting water in. The most likely cause if this is not the problem would be the main control board. Gerben May 29, 2014 for Model Number WM2487HWM When selecting a cycle, double click on the door and error dE, however door remains locked when hitting stop....do this again, doubleclick again but now door is open. I already replaced the doorlock and switch assembly (part 6601ER1004C) however problem continues. So no faulty switch-assembly. Would this mean it's the main controller board. Is this an LG genuine part?
Mike C March 01, 2014 for Model Number LG WM2487HWM Washing machine runs but at various times in cycle get FE error code. I can turn off cold water valve to allow to hit start button to continue cycle, but it consistantly gives me this FE. Also at times seems the water and pump run simultaneously for long periods of time, again I will turn off cold inlet water to continue cycle. Thanks - I think it is the main circuit board, since the cold water solenoid does open and close most of times during cycle
1 Answer Hello Mike. If the water keeps filling and you have to turn off the cold water, you will need to replace the water valve on the unit. Read More...
Mark K October 04, 2013 for Model Number LG Washer Model WM2487HWM Washer stopped working mid cycle. Push on button - nothing. No power, therefore no trouble codes. Seems completely dead. Had fuse checked, seems ok. Could this be the main control board? Or can you think of something else?
1 Answer Hello Mark. Test for power to the control board. If there is power there, and it does not work, you will need to replace the PCB assembly on the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
