Mike February 17, 2018 for Model Number LFX21960ST The replacement part that you have for my start relay has only 2 terminals whereas my refrigerator has 3 number 1 is red number 2 is double blue and number 3 is pink. As the original part is no longer available, is there a new way of replacing the start relay? What do I do with the red wire that goes to the starting capacitor? I purchased the overload protector? Not sure how to wire. which of the three wires that I took off the old start relay go to the new start relay 6748C-0004D. The wire that is left must go to the overload protector? Model Number LFX21960ST I received your response just want to make sure I understand. I will order the overload protector Model#? Will the red wire be used that I removed from the existing start relay? What wire will be attached to the overload protector? Thank you for your time
1 Answer Mike, The pink wire will go to the capacitor which is not a required part and will need to put the red to the number one of the new part and the blue to the number 2. Read More...

1 Answer Mike, If your original relay had 3 terminals you would just leave the one going to the capacitor off as the capacitor is not a required part on the unit. Read More...
Scott August 16, 2017 for Model Number LFX25961SB01 I've been doing a lot of research on replacing the original start relay/overload switch /start capacitor in my LG LFX25961SB. I finally ordered your lg thermistor assembly ptc 6749c-0014e (ap5949339) as well as the overload. I understand that the original start capacitor on the unit is no longer needed with these two new components. My only concern is that I seem to be reading two different answers regarding the wiring for the new setup. There is a blue and black wire going to the original relay/overload/cap. It's clear to me that the black wire should go to the new overload switch, but the answers given in this Questions section seem to contradict on where the blue wire goes. One answer says it goes to terminal 3 on the new relay and another answer says it goes to terminal 2. Can you confirm which is the correct terminal for the blue wire?
1 Answer Hello Scott, The capacitor will be needed with the new components. A start relay and overload will not take the place of the capacitor. If the compressor originally needed the capacitor, it still needs it. The hot wire should connect to the overload and the neutral will connect to terminal number 2. The capacitor will share the connection with the neutral wire and the other capacitor wire will connect to terminal 3. Read More...
Aimee June 22, 2017 for Model Number GR38W12CPC We purchased and replaced the relay and overload for the LG GR38W12CPC but now the thing is melting and smelling like burnt plastic. We are in Costa Rica and it is possible that we have had many power surges...even though we have two power surge protective devices - one specifically made for refrigerators. Our question is whether a problem with the compressor itself can cause the overload to melt and can we bypass the overload?
1 Answer Hello Aimee. It can be the start device, but there is no way of bypassing it without causing a fire hazard. We do not recommend it. Read More...
Mary June 21, 2017 for Model Number LFX25950SB I have received a new compressor start relay that is supposedly compatible with my refrigerator. The new one has 2 prongs whereas the faulty one had 3. Do I leave off the red wire as the blue and pink have been attached and compressor is running?
1 Answer Hello Mary, The red wire will connect with the blue wire to carry voltage to other components on the unit. This is necessary for proper operation of all components on the refrigerator. Read More...
Jimmy T. May 28, 2017 for Model Number LG Refrigerator model # LR-231 GL My refrigerator would not start, just heard a click sound from overload and relay. Is the starting relay defective already? Thank you
1 Answer Hello Jimmy, This does indicate that the compressor is not starting and the overload is tripping out on overload. This can be caused by a bad start relay or by a locked compressor. I'm sorry but we will need to ask you to post a new question including the model number from your units' I.D. tag so we can recommend parts that can be guaranteed to work properly on your unit. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter. Read More...
Guy Pilley May 02, 2017 for Model Number LFX25971ST Sears Tech diagnosed the problem with Compressor Starter (faulty). I think he got the system running by using a bastardized part as he left behind a capacitor. They were going to order a new part but was told a few days later that they don't make the part anymore and basically left me hanging. Right now there is no cover as shown on your video (which was very good). The part which I think I need 6749-0014E, you have, but am wondering, does this left over Capacitor fit into this new part or is the capacitor part of the new part???
1 Answer Guy, The manufacturer has discontinued the use of the capacitor on your unit and will be able to be used without the capacitor on it. The relay that they put on the unit will work for your unit. Read More...
Chuck March 19, 2017 for Model Number Lfx25960st The replacement part that you have for my start relay has only 2 terminals whereas my refrigerator has 3 number 1 is red number 2 is double blue and number 3 is pink. As the original part is no longer available, is there a new way of replacing the start relay? What do I do with the red wire that goes to the starting capacitor? Do I need any other part such as an overload protector?
1 Answer Chuck, You will need to get an overload protector and the 2 wires that go to the capacitor will not be required as the capacitor is not longer used. The blue will still go to number 2. Read More...
Buzby February 26, 2017 for Model Number LFX25971ST Replaced starter relay in LG refrigerator as per the replacement parts and questions answered in this section. Relay cycles the compressor on and off every 1 or two minutes. I put the blue wire on terminal toward back of refrigerator. No pink wire. Is compressor overheating and thus tripping relay? Or do I just let it run?
1 Answer Buzby, You will want to put the blue wire on the number 3 terminal on the relay and then you will want to put the black wire to the overload. If this is how it is wired then the issue will be a faulty compressor. Read More...
Cdalt February 18, 2017 for Model Number lg lsc23924st I need a new start relay and overload for my lg lsc23924st refrigerator. The original start relay part number is EBG42993601, however it appears to be discontinued. Could you please suggest a compatible alternative?
1 Answer Cdalt, You will want to use the thermistor PTC part number EBG62325702 and the relay EAF39584205 for this issue. Read More...
