The Water Inlet Valve is an OEM part for LG refrigerators. It controls the flow of water into the refrigerator for the icemaker and water dispenser, ensuring a consistent supply for ice production and chilled water.

Common causes of failure include sediment buildup, electrical issues, or damage from freezing. A malfunctioning valve can disrupt the water supply, affecting both the icemaker and water dispenser functions.

Symptoms of a bad Water Inlet Valve include:

  • No water or ice production
  • Slow filling of the ice tray or water dispenser
  • Leaks or puddles around the refrigerator
  • Unusual noises when the water dispenser is activated

This OEM LG part is also compatible with Sears/Kenmore.

Crystal, Unfortunately we would not have a wiring diagram for this model due to it being a Kenmore model. You may want to check with the manufacturer to see if they can get the wiring information for you.

George for Model Number LG 25860

Is there any information into which line should go in which hole in the inlet valve? There are 2 1/4 inch and 2 5/16 inch. Can someone confirm? Also from a wiring perspective the red and blue wires from the inlet valves that plug into the fridge, Can anyone with this fridge tell me is the blue on the left or the red when standing behind the fridge? I have a fridge someone had pulled the inlet valve out of and trying to put one back in and unsure of which connections go where.

1 Answer

George, The 5/16" tubing that goes up to the filter will go on the green ring, the 1/4" coming back will go to the gray ring on the valve, the 1/4" from the icemaker will go to the orange and the other 5/16" tube will go to the white. We do not have information on the wires but should only go in one way.

Keith, The water would be going through the filter head if the dispenser and icemaker are working and if there is no water going into the filter itself you will want to check to make sure that the filter is in all the way and if it is then the filter head would need replaced.

Anthony, The wiring is not included with the water valve assembly. The manufacturer is not showing the wire harness being available.

Bruce, Unfortunately there is not a schematic showing the hookup of the water valve on this unit. If there is no water at all then it could be a clogged water filter or a bad filter head that is causing this issue. Normally if you have the tubing connected incorrectly, water will pour out at different locations than where it is supposed to and the wiring would be similar in that the water would come out of icemaker instead of dispenser.

Hello John. If the valve is new and the fill tube is not frozen, you will need to replace the icemaker on the unit if the temp is 0 to 5°.

Hello Carrie. This sounds like one of the water tubes is bad and will need to be repaired or replaced on the unit. You need to check and see where the water is spraying out from.

Bob for Model Number 795.75544401

ice maker and water dispenser not work. I changed water filter, I defrosted refrigerator to ensure no lines were frozen. I also changed the Water inlet Valve part # 5220JB2001A. Can it be the filter head (is that where the water comes into the refrig since no water is getting to either water dispenser or ice maker part number 5230JA2003A . I am also trying to see how to disassemble this to replace, is all from the interior of the refrigerator or do I have to pull it out and disassemble from the back. THanks for your advice and I will use yor website to order any additional parts

1 Answer

Bob, A way to determine if the water valve is faulty would be to check voltage at the valve. If the valve has voltage but not passing water through it then it would need to be replaced. The valve that would be needed is part number 5221JB2006K. If you disconnect the tube that is on the grey port and test push the water dispenser there should be water come out. This will tell you that water is getting through the filter head.
