The Water Inlet Valve is an OEM part for LG refrigerators. It controls the flow of water into the refrigerator for the icemaker and water dispenser, ensuring a consistent supply for ice production and chilled water.

Common causes of failure include sediment buildup, electrical issues, or damage from freezing. A malfunctioning valve can disrupt the water supply, affecting both the icemaker and water dispenser functions.

Symptoms of a bad Water Inlet Valve include:

  • No water or ice production
  • Slow filling of the ice tray or water dispenser
  • Leaks or puddles around the refrigerator
  • Unusual noises when the water dispenser is activated

This OEM LG part is also compatible with Sears/Kenmore.

For Lg Water Valve Assembly (Part Number: OEM13326354)

Dwaine, These do not come with the valve and you would just reuse the ones that were originally on the unit. These do not lock the hose in, it just keeps the ring around the hose from being pushed in and the hose being able to come loose. Here are the part numbers for the clips Icemaker clip 4930JA3093B and water tube clip 4930JA3091A.

Chris, Unfortunately, there is no diagram available showing which water line connects to each port on the valve. The one where the water line from the house hooks up will be the tube that goes into the filter. On the one that has 3 ports, the gray one is coming back from the filter, the orange one is to the icemaker and the white one to the dispenser.

Replaced failing valve assembly with LG 5221JB2006K as per Sears recommendation. There was a lack of much electric or waterline information for the fridge so I labeled tubes and valve connectors before disassembly to reduce the chance of mixing them up. Reassembly went fine, water dispensed as expected. When the ice maker cycled to make ice water also came out the dispenser but the ice maker itself remained dry. Can you give me some idea of what I may have mixed up (electrical or water line) and help me undo whatever I did? I'd like to avoid shooting water out over the kitchen floor again, if I can. Thanks so much for your help!

Doug, based on the information provided, it sounds like there may have been a miswire that occurred. The purple wire and blue wire connector should go to the 5/16" tubing for the water dispenser and it will have a jumper wire going to a second connector that would need to be plugged into the front solenoid. This will leave the other two connectors that would be plugged into the last two solenoids for the ice maker.

Don, There should be 120 Vac to the water valve when you depress the water dispenser lever. If there is not 120 Vac then check the switch for the dispenser to make sure that it is good.

Hello Bryant, the blue wires are joined together, the red is separate, if they have been pulled out of the disconnect plug which has the terminals then you will need to get a new pair of terminals and crimp them onto the wires then they can be reconnected to the water valve terminals.

Peter, There should be a brown wire and a white wire that would go to the dispenser solenoid which will be where the large tube goes to. There should be a gray and white that will go to the solenoid that the water supply line connects to and then the other wires will go to the other solenoid.

Ray for Model Number 79575546401

Ice Maker: After 15 years, some of the tubing in the back of the refrigerator got brittle and started cracking causing major water leaks. I replaced the tubing. No more leaks and water comes out of the in-door dispenser. But after 12 hours the ice maker doesn't produce ice. I ran through the ice maker cycle test from the service manual. Cycled through as expected, no errors, but no ice. Questionable if water is getting to the ice maker. Do you have to purge the lines after replacing them? Or is there another way to test this before thinking the valve coincidentally broke while I was replacing the tubing. Thanks.

1 Answer

Ray, you may want to inspect the fill tube at the icemaker for any ice blockages. If ice has frozen inside of the fill tube on the inside of the freezer, it will need to be cleared. As this has occurred after tubing causing a leak, it is possible that this may just be from air being able to get to the water and breaking the water vacuum. If the fill tube ices up again, this would indicate that the water valve 5221JB2006K is leaking by. If the fill tube is not iced up, then you will want to test the valve for 120VAC when the ice maker is near the end of the harvest mode. If there is 120VAC, then the valve failed. If there is not 120VAC, then the most likely issue would be the ice maker 5989JA0002N not calling for water.

Jeff, This issue would most likely be caused by a faulty water valve on the unit.
