For Lg Refrigerator Water Inlet Valve (Part Number: OEM16998852)

Jason C for Model Number 795.73053.4110

My water dispenser suddenly started dispensing very slowly. I tried replacing the water inlet valve in the door, then the water inlet valve in the back, and then the filter head. None of these worked. I finally realized that when I'm depressing the button for water, water is also going to the ice maker (which is why it seems only half the water is being dispensed). I gave up and hired a pro to come look. After looking over everything I already replaced, he tried switching the tube from the water reservoir in the door with the white valve tube. Water works perfectly again, but I haven't been home again today to see if ice is working. Assuming it isn't (or is, even), what do you think the issue is? Thanks!

Hello Jason, and thank you for your question. It is possible that the original valve failed and, when replaced, the tubes may have been accidentally switched. We recommend allowing the ice maker about 24 hours to see if it produces ice as expected, since consistent ice production can be a good indicator of whether there’s another underlying issue.

Dave, based on the model number, the water dispenser valve should be located in the water tank assembly AJL72911510 for testing.

Hello lgwaterleakuser, thank you for contacting APP, This issue would be related to either the Water Valve MJX41869202 or the Dispenser Power Control Board EBR60070733 in the door. I would test this by disconnecting the wires to the solenoid on the White port and running the Icemaker, if you are still getting water through both valves when the Icemaker fills replace the Water Valve, if only getting water through one valve when the Icemaker fills replace the Dispenser Power Control Board.

Teddy, Based on the information provided the most likely culprit would be the valve in the door.

Jean-Guy, the water inlet assembly 5221JB2010G that diverts water to the ice maker is located in the left door behind the access panel behind the bottom door bin. The main inlet valve AJU72992601 that sends water to the inlet assembly is located in the back of the appliance in the compressor section.

Water squirting out of the back of the refrigerator at the top where the water line enters. Tightened fitting, no help, still leaks. Replaced fitting where water enters. Still leaks. Replaced filter, still leaks. Trimmed vinyl hose where it enters fitting about 1/2", but still leaks. Any ideas? Maybe the water valve? Seems like I am getting some water inside the freezer on the bottom of the freezer but that may have been when I unhooked the vinyl supply line in the back so it drained out the front water dispenser? Thanks

Hello Pat, The fitting you have described is not designed to hold water pressure but is designed to redirect the flow of water. When water leaks at this fitting it indicates that the fill tube has frozen up[ and needs to be thawed out from the inside with a hairdryer set to a medium setting. This is caused by a bad water inlet valve MJX41178908. If you have replaced this water inlet valve, the cause has been corrected but the fill tube into the icemaker still needs to be thawed out to complete the repair.

Derek, it would be recommended that the fill tube above the ice maker be inspected for an ice blockage. If there is ice clogging it, the ice would need to be cleared and the valve MJX41869202 in the bottom of the refrigerator door (located behind a cover panel just behind the lower bin of the left door) would need to be replaced.

Jim, This issue would most likely be caused by a faulty water filter housing that is not allowing water to pass through properly. Would also check to see if the water line is kinked but if not change the filter head.
