For Lg Refrigerator Water Inlet Valve Assembly (Part Number: OEM13336851)

Matt for Model Number Kenmore 795.58813.900

The ice cube tray freezes solid and looks as though it is some how being overfilled. The ice covers the individual cubes and has frozen into a solid block of ice.The tray goes through the motions of turning in order to dump the cubes but the entire mass stays frozen to the ice cube tray. I have had to use a hair dryer to break the ice cubes (now in a solid block) free. Would this be caused by the water inlet valve that has somehow malfunctioned or some other component? Your thoughts...? Matt

Matt, This issue would most likely be caused by a faulty water valve. The water valve would not be shutting off all the way and allowing a little bit of water to continue to run into the icemaker.

Angie, You will want to make sure that you pushed the tube all the way into the valve. When you push it in it will come to a stopping point then you have to push it just a little harder for it to fully seal. Also check the water line to make sure that there is no leak in it.

Oliver for Model Number LSC26905TT LG side by side

Recently, I have a side by side refrigerator and the dispenser slight started flashing. When it does this, there is water that comes out the back and it leaks a lot of water. It sounds like it tries to initiate pumping water even though I am NOT trying to dispense any. The only way to prevent leaking is to LOCK the control pad. It mostly works and the flashing will stop after a while. I don't want to shut off the water since it still makes ice but I just need to manually take it out. It can also dispense if it is not throwing a tantrum and start flashing again. After that then it just opens and closes the opening. It does not seem like it leaks otherwise even though it continues to make ice. Is this just a frozen water line to the water dispenser or is this a water valve issue? I cannot logically say there is something wrong with the water valve if it is used for both ice and water dispensing, unless they are separate. I am thinking it may be a control board issue but I don't want to invest in that if it's something physically wrong that can be fixed by defrosting. Thank you

Hello Oliver, This sounds like a power supply problem on the main board 6871JB1410N. Once this issue is resolved, you should wait about two days and run the diagnostic tests to see if there are any fault codes. The two days are to allow any problems to show up in the new control board since it is this board that diagnoses the circuitry on board the unit.

Brian, The water filter would be the most likely cause if the water pressure is low. You will want to replace the water filter.

Shane, The most likely cause for this issue would be a broken bracket that the door sits on or the solenoid for the dispenser has failed.

Lou K for Model Number LSC26905TT

The water inlet valve was leaking, so I ordered a new one and replace that. Now I do not have water to the ice maker and it doesn't seem to be cycling. I do have water in the door. Also, every now and then, it squirts water out of the door dispenser as if you were filling a glass. I am sure that it has to do with the wiring of the water inlet valve. Can you tell me what color wires go to which position? (as if you were holding the water inlet valve upright with the four spade connectors on top facing you). I also noticed in one of the answers you mentioned a test button on the ice maker to ensure the motor works. Does this model have one? Thanks

1 Answer

Hello Lou. You will need to check the fill tube and see if it is frozen and needs to be thawed out. If it is frozen, it will prevent the icemaker from cycling properly.

Lou, For the wiring of the water valve, when looking at the valve from the part where the water supply connects to, the single solenoid will have a pink and blue wire connected to it. It will not matter which wire goes on which terminal. The water dispenser solenoid which is part of the dual valve and sits on the right side will have brown and white wires connected to it and the red and blue will go to the valve for the icemaker.

Patrice, The only way to get water through the lines is to make sure that the water is turned on and all the tubing is connected to the correct spot. The single valve will go to the filter housing. The other filter tube will go to the gray port on the 3 port valve. The 1/4" tubing to the icemaker will go to the orange port and the other tubing will go to the white on the 3 port valve. This one would go to the water tank.

LGbog, You will want to check the icemaker tray to see if it is leaning. If leaning it will cause water to splash out. The only correction for this would be a new icemaker assembly.
