Questions & Answers

For Samsung Refrigerator Water Tank Assembly (Part Number: OEM12507729)

Bob, unfortunately, we do not currently have a repair video for the water tank assembly DA97-02650D at this time. However, the water tubing connections at the back of the appliance can be disconnected while the water supply is turned off. Once this is done, the lower shelves and drawers in the refrigerator would need to be removed to access the water tank. The water tank is held in place by a couple of screws that would need to be removed, allowing it to pull forward and the tubing removed from the liner. The new tubing would need to be fed into the liner and the tank placed into position.

Our refrigerator started having a clear/whitish particles from the water dispenser. No other water source has these. I read that the chemicals used in some water treatment facilities can cause the molded plastic refrigerator water reservoirs to break down resulting in white or whitish particles appearing as flakes, flecks or specs in the dispensed chilled water, and that the reservoir could be replaced (although it might just break down again?) or even be replaced with a coil of tubing. Have you heard of this problem, and would you recommend this replacement reservoir or a tubing alternative?

Dawgfan, there are components in water that can cause this issue and the proper repair would be replacing the manufacturer's recommended reservoir as it often collects and affects this specific part more than the rest of the water system.

Brian for Model Number RS265LBBP/XAA-0000

Hello. Water keeps pooling in the bottom of my fridge and running onto the floor. Thinking the defrost drain hole was plugged or frozen I removed the rear panel to check. Drain hole was fine. While apart I checked the water reservoir. Reservoir was fine. Then I noticed water dripping from the "vent" behind the crisper drawer. The vent apparently runs through the back wall of the fridge to the upper section of the fridge. Could something be plugged or frozen in the upper section of the fridge and causing the water to run down the vent and pool in the bottom of the fridge?

1 Answer

Brian, If there was a clog, or ice, or moisture in the cover/air tunnel, we would expect you to also have cooling complaints in the refrigerator. If that's not the case, then you would want to check for both the doors to close and seal properly, No large open containers, that could produce moisture or condensation in the refrigerator. You most likely, still have a clogged or restricted defrost drain tube. You may want to use a large diameter trim line from a weed wacker, or a trombone slide cleaner and make sure the drain tube is clear and lined up properly in the defrost drain pane, and then install a DA61-14306A Drain Clip to insure the drain hole remains open and doesn't clog with ice.
