Jen25105 August 16, 2017 for Model Number DV219AEW/XXA Without taking the dryer apart to find out if I have a 2 or 3 wire, on the sticker inside the door is marked 3 wire 60 Hz. Could this possible mean I have a 3 wire?
1 Answer Jen, "on the sticker inside the door is marked 3 wire 60 Hz. Could this possible mean I have a 3 wire? All Electric dryers in the USA are 3 or 4 wire 240 VAC, 60 Hz. dryers, this refers to the power supply to the dryer, not inside the dryer. If you remove the terminal block cover plate on the back of the dryer, with the power cord plugged into the outlet, and with a multi meter you should read 220-20 VAC across the two outside terminals. from each outside terminal to the center terminal you should read 120 VAC. Be careful when checking voltages, If you have those readings then power to the dryer is correct, and you'll need to move to the next component in the circuit you're testing. Read More...
Chad July 18, 2017 for Model Number DV45H6300EG/A3 Your site provides a replacement assembly for the heating element but offers a different part number for a 2 wire element. Without disassembling my dryer, how can I tell if I have the 3 wire or 2 wire element? I have a Samsung model DV45H6300EG/A3. Thanks!
Stephen January 25, 2017 for Model Number DV45H6300EG/A3-0000 Tested three wire heating element , one side has conductivity other side does not. this means Heating element is bad correct ?
Bh November 14, 2016 for Model Number Samsung DV45H6300EGA3 How do I differentiate between a broken motor (as in the other question) and a broken heating element? The dryer still turns, but doesn't heat. I previously had a warranty repair which replaced the "Assy Heater and Idler," so I think that's the element assembly and suspect it's gone bad, but seeing the other customer asking about the motor makes me wonder.
1 Answer BH, There are 2 components other than the thermostats which would cause the heating element not to work. First is the motor and second the Control board. The best option is to disconnect the power to the unit and access the heating element. Disconnect one wire that is going to the heating element, preferably the one on the thermostat side. Plug the unit back up and using a multimeter you will want to turn the dryer on and test for 120 vac at the terminal on the heater where the wire was disconnected. What this will do is eliminate the heater element itself and the motor. If there is 120 vac at this point then you know the heater is good and the motor is good because the other 120 vac coming through the thermostats is the control side of the circuit. If there is not 120 vac at that point then you will want to test the other terminal on the heater and check for 120 vac. If there is not 120 vac then the motor would be bad . Read More...
Curt March 30, 2016 for Model Number DV45H6300EG/A3-0000 Overview: The drum turns when started but there is not heat. A service repairman has said that the motor needs to be replaced. When asked why if the drum is turning? His reply was that due to the wiring this model will not allow the heating element to function. Is this a correct statement? I can do the repair work but need to order the correct part or parts from your site.
1 Answer Curt, The motor has a centrifugal switch built internally into it. If the switch fails it will not allow the L2 leg of power to go to the heater and will cause a no heat issue. The motor will be the part that you are needing is the motor DC93-00101N.. Read More...
