Zab, You will want to make sure that the dryer venting from the blower wheel to the outside of your home is clean because this can cause the overheating issue that is blowing the fuse.

samsung dryer had code HC indicating over heating before it stopped heating all together. ran blockage test and got the CLG code removed duct from back of dryer and disassembled vent duct to blower wheel and cleaned. after reinstalling and leaving disconnected from duct work to home re ran blockage test still showing CLG code and still will not heat. tried to reset by throwing breaker for 5 minutes (no luck). believe it may have a failed thermistor or thermal fuse. any help deciding which part would be my best bet? thanks in advance. Nick

Nick, Based on the information provided this is not typically a thermal fuse but you could check it for continuity with a multimeter. If it is not an error due to airflow then you would need a multimeter to check the thermistor resistance.

Robert, based on the information provided, the failure would be in the main control. The motor relay is stuck in the closed position. For the most accurate part information, the REV number would be necessary.

James for Model Number DV457EVGSWR/AA-0001

Issue- No heat during dry cycle. I purchased the service manual for this dryer and went through the items to check off for troubleshooting. I have pulled the heater, thermister, and thermostat. Thermister checked out having roughly 10K Ohm resistance. Thermostat checked out having .1 OHM. NO resistance with thermostat 3. Thermostat 2 Checks out with .2 ohms. Service manual says heating coil should have resistance of 10 Ohms (Blue and Blue Wire). This is what makes no sense to me. Blu and blue wire. Three wires go into heater. Red whit and blue. I know how a heater works, so if i measure resistance across the top and middle pin, I get 34.2 Ohms. Across the middle and bottom pin, nothing. Was going to purchase thermister, tstat and new heater, but would like to confirm this with a pro. Please advise.

1 Answer

James, For this issue, It would be best to check to see if there is 240 Vac to the heating element. If there is 240 Vac the this issue will be a faulty heater. If there is not proper power then this will be either a motor or a board issue.
