Questions & Answers

For Samsung Washer Flange Shaft Assembly (Part Number: OEM20961888)

1 Answer

There are several different symptoms possible. The washer may be noisy, out of blance, not spin, not agitate, the tub could be loose, or stuck out of center. Also, the unit may not drain due to the pump getting clogged with pieces of the spider that broke off.

Hello Bill, if the washer has worn spin bearings the control board will think the clothes load is unbalanced or overloaded resulting in no or a poor spin, the spin bearings are part of the rear outer tub assembly part DC97-19636A, the spider arm assembly (also called flange and/or basket support is part DC97-17004E. Prices on the parts can be found on our websire.

Mark, Unfortunately with the part being discontinued there would be no suitable replacement available.

Hello David, I'm sorry but this part is made of the same cast aluminum as the original. There is no sort of "coating" that can withstand the chemical reaction from the detergent and the combination of hot water and bleach that can be applied.

I’m having problems with my Samsung front load washer. During the wash cycle the tub does not rotates back and forth. Instead it tries too, but just stutters and makes clicking noises. This continues until the rinse cycle when the machine starts to act normal and spin just fine. Also the machine seems to spin in the spin cycle with no problems except it has gotten noisier to the point it sound like a high pitched jet engine. I tired recalibrating it as per the manufacturer’s instructions but to no avail. The digital display does not have any error codes appear and the tub spins freely by hand when the machine is off. I tried doing a load with no clothes and the tub was able to spin in the wash mode with minimal stuttering but any stuttering is abnormal. I then tried a small load but again would not spin in the wash cycle only in the rinse and spin cycle. I am pretty handy and would be able to replace most parts if I could figure out which part. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Than you.

Chris, The "it has gotten noisier to the point it sound like a high pitched jet engine" indicates the tub bearings are worn and making the noise 6601-000148 Bearing, 6601-002637 Bearing, and DC62-00156A Rear Tub Seal would be needed. The "stuttering" and clicking noise is most likely due to a faulty DC31-00098A Rotary Position Sensor on the motor or a fulty, loose or damaged wire between the motor sensor and the control board.

When we disassembled the machine to replace the spider flange shaft there was a washer on that shaft that was completely worn out, paper thin and misshaped. I can't seem to find the part on any list, from any company, and it didn't come with the new flange. I can't seem to even purchase it from any place that sells hardware. Someone said the oil seal but there are races inside the seal and no one is able to tell me if the there is a washer.

Hello Latichia, Since this part is not shown in any parts list that we can locate, it will have to be a part of the old bearing assembly or the old tub seal assembly.

Craig, For this issue you will want to check the flange on the rear of the inner tub as this sounds like the flange may be broken and would need to be replaced. If the flange checks ok then the most likely issue would be the main control board.
