Questions & Answers

For Samsung Refrigerator Ice Maker Assembly (Part Number: OEM13344615)

Mike, it would be recommended that the fill tube is inspected for any ice clogs. If there is an ice clog, it would need to be cleared and the water valve DA97-07827B replaced. If it is not clogged, the valve would need to be tested for 120VAC at the end of the ice maker harvest cycle. If there is voltage but water does not go into the ice maker, the valve has failed.

Tom for Model Number RFG238AARS/XAA

Ice Maker (DA97-07592A) stopped working. It is making a "hooting" noise like an owl about once per second. Stops sometimes and then starts up hour or two later. I turned off the ice maker because sound is annoying! Removed ice maker. Initial diagnosis: Motor unable rotate paddles to empty ice tray. Found ice cubes fully formed frozen solid in the tray. Took end cover off and disassembled motor. Expected to find several teeth on large drive get shared off. No, it is in perfect condition! No sign of any mechanical problem. Next idea: Heater not working to slightly melt cubes so they could be pushed out. Checked continuity of heater element. Yes, it has continuity, not burned out. Next thought: What controls the heater element to cause it to turn on? There is a small circuit board next to the motor, does that control the heater? Or is the master control board involved? I hope not. Please help. Thanks.

Hello Tom, the ice maker is monitored and controlled by the main control board, there is a test button (forced manual harvest) button on the side of the ice maker, if it failed the test cycle then replace the ice maker before the main board.

Roger, based on the information provided previously, the failure would likely be in the main control as multiple ice makers had been replaced.

Steve, after pressing the test button and holding for three seconds, the red wire will need to be tested to the white wire (using a multimeter red probe on the red wire) to identify if the ice maker DA97-07603B is receiving 13VDC. If there is 13VDC, then the ice maker has failed.

Steve, There should be an arm on the icemaker that would come down to sense the ice level. If the arm is broken off then it will cause the icemaker to overfill and you would want a new arm part number DA61-05435A. If the arm is still there will need to get a new icemaker which is part number DA97-07603B.

Skip, It would be recommended to put the lower icemaker back in before starting the unit. The unit when it initially starts up it goes through a test mode and if the unit is not reading all the sensors, including the icemaker, then the unit will not run. If you reinstall the icemaker and still have the same issue then the issue will most likely be a faulty control board.
