Edward January 30, 2022 for Model Number SAMSUNG RSG257AAWPXAA The video for replacement of the water inlet valve was great. It showed the exact valve that I have in my Samsung refrigerator and the replacement steps were straightforward. However, the replacement inlet valve DA97-08587A shown in stock is dramatically different than the one in the video. The in-stock has a new black plastic pipe component, the 2 water connections are horizontal not vertical, they are at 90degrees not parallel with bottom entry, and there are 2 electrical connectors not 1. I do not think there is enough room to make the connections Can I simply order the exact valve that is shown in the video? If not, can I get a much better explanation of how to connect the electrical and outlet water connections.
1 Answer Edward, while the placement of the tubing has changed in direction, it would still be inserted the same way as shown in the video (the black tube referenced is a guide and support for the waterline). As this valve is used across several models, it has the extra connectors used with other models which can be disregarded as your unit only uses the large connector. Read More...
Jeremiah October 13, 2021 for Model Number RF26HFENDWW/AA I'm trying to replace the water inlet valve for the bottom drawer freezer ice maker. this does not have a cold water feature. my issue is that the valve is not at the bottom of the fridge it is behind a cover plate and I cannot get it out and am afraid of damaging something. there was one screw that looked like a retaining screw the only thing I can think of since it hasn't been used in a year is that there is a giant block of ice on the other side. any ideas if I am missing something on the removal and replacement?
1 Answer Jeremiah, Thanks for the question!!! in order to remove the water valve, you will need to disconnect the power and remove the rear panel (machine room cover). Then it should only be one screw holding the valve in place. The valve mounting plate has a little finger that holds it in place as well. But should easily lift out. Jay March 14, 2021 for Model Number Samsung RSG257AARS/XAA A few days ago, I posted a question about water not going into my ice maker but that it was going into the water dispenser. You recommended that it could be the water inlet valve that needs to be replaced, and that it was part number DA97-08587A. Before ordering the part, I opened the back of the fridge to see how challenging this repair would be. My problem is that the valve that's in the fridge does not match the DA97-08587A at all. The most significant difference is that my current valve only has one connector, while the photos of the DA97-08587A have two. Also, the structure of the valve is different. I browsed the internet and found that someone else had the same issue, and they tried to install the new valve with the one connector hanging and it didn't work. So, what is the correct valve?
1 Answer Jay, there should be a dual solenoid valve in the back with the compressor where the water supply connects. This valve is part number DA97-08587A based on the model number provided. Read More...
Jay March 12, 2021 for Model Number Samsung RSG257AARS/XAA My ice maker has stopped producing ice and water is not flowing to it. The water to the dispenser is fine and functioning. We recently had bad weather which resulted in days of power outages, so theres a chance the line to the freezer froze. How do I check the line for blockage? Also, any other ideas of what would be the issue? Freezer is plenty cold.
1 Answer Jay, to inspect the ice maker water outlet, the ice maker DA97-07549B (This ice maker has a 12 pin connector on the harness. For a 10 pin connector use part number DA97-06364B) would need to be removed so that the tubing can be visually inspected. If there is an ice block, it would need to be cleared and the valve would need to be replaced. If ice is not visually apparent, and the freezer has been verified as being below 10°F, the next step would be to press the reset button on the ice maker so that the valve can be tested for 120VAC. If the valve DA97-08587A receives the proper voltage at the end of the ice maker's harvest cycle and no water comes through, the valve has failed and would need to be replaced. If voltage does not get to the valve, the failure would likely be in the ice maker. Read More...
Jay March 10, 2021 for Model Number Samsung RSG257AARS/XAA My icemaker has stopped making ice, and this time I can't figure out why. In the past I've replaced the icemaker assembly. I also had another scenario where I determined it was freezing up and wound up putting electrical gel on the circuit board and connectors, and that resolved the problem. This time, it just stopped making ice and I don't see any water feeding into the icemaker. The freezer is sufficiently cold, the water pressure is very good and I can fill a cup in less than the 10 second test. I pressed the reset / test button on the icemaker and it made a ding, but no water flowed in. One thing I did notice is that typically after you open the freezer door and then close it, you hear a sound that almost sounds like water flowing to the freezer. So, not sure what's controlling or preventing the lack of water flow in. Do you think it's the ice maker or the water valve assembly or something else? Also, I know how to replace the ice maker, but clueless on the water valve assembly if that's the case, so is that a complex process? Thanks.
1 Answer Jay, it would be recommended that the water tube going into the ice maker is inspected for an ice clog. If there is ice blocking up the tube, it would need to be cleared and the ice maker ran through a reset again. If water comes through successfully, the water valve DA97-08587A would need to be replaced and it is accessed from the back of the appliance in the compressor compartment. Read More...
Gash T. April 27, 2020 for Model Number Samsung RS256TDRS What are some tests I can do to pinpoint why my Samsung RS256TDRS is not making ice anymore? I have tested the water line into the ice maker as described in https://removeandreplace.com/2016/01/29/samsung-refrigerator-ice-maker-tray-not-filling-with-water-model-rs-fridge/. I was able to feel air through the water line and out of the fill tube. Based on what I have seen on your site, the next possibilities to check is water valve assembly or the ice maker unit itself. How can I eliminate one or the other so I can purchase the correct part to have ice again? Thank you in advance!
1 Answer Gash T, Checking the water valve: Disconnect power from the unit and locate the water valve assembly, disconnect the wires from the terminals located on the solenoid coils. The number of coils will differ by model, and each coil will have two terminals. Set the multimeter to the lowest Ohms of resistance setting, and make sure the meter is calibrated properly. Place a probe on one of the terminals, and place the other probe on the other terminal. Do this for each solenoid coil. If the meter measures infinite Ohms of resistance– the display on a digital meter does not change much or the needle on an analog meter does not move– the valve has no continuity and is bad. Peter February 23, 2020 for Model Number Samsung RSG257AARS Samsung RSG257AARS stopped making ice. The water tray fills slightly. Replaced the filter, no change, replaced water valve operated normal for about two weeks, then back to no ice. Water pressure is 65 psi, operating ice maker reset 3 or 4 times will put sufficient water into tray and will make and dump ice. After ice dump tray fills insufficiently and no ice untill filling tray manually or using reset several times. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks Pete
1 Answer Peter, the ice maker fill tube will need to be inspected for a partially frozen outlet. If it is partially frozen and wasn't cleared when the new valve was installed, then it would restrict the water from getting through to the ice maker. If there is not a partially frozen outlet, the tubing would need to be inspected for any pinched lines. If there is not a tubing issue, then the likely issue is the main control DA41-00524A is short cycling the water valve. Read More...
Thomas C April 25, 2018 for Model Number RSG257AAWP/XAA The water dispenser drips water constantly. What part needs to be placed and how do I disassemble the fridge to replace it?
1 Answer Thomas, This would be a water valve issue. You would need to pull the unit out and remove the rear cover and replace the valve. Read More...
Bryan March 30, 2018 for Model Number Samsung RSG257AARS Hi - I replaced the ice maker in my Samsung RSG257AARS refrigerator about a year ago. The replacement ice maker was a Guggen DA97-07549B. It worked fine for about a year but recently it stopped making ice. When I press the test button, it cycles but the ice tray only fills up ~40%. I opened up the back of the fridge and removed the ice maker water line from the valve. I then checked the water line from the valve to the ice maker by blowing air through it, and it is clear. After putting it all together again and plugging it back in, the valve activated but it opened for only a couple of seconds and did not completely fill the ice maker. The water dispenser is working fine. What controls how long the valve is open for the ice maker water line? Is there a water flow sensor? Or a water level detector in the ice maker? Appreciate any guidance you can provide for resolving this issue. Thanks. Bryan
1 Answer Bryan, " Water is automatically supplied to the Ice Maker by temperature & time. " Based on your post information and description, you most likely have an issue with the ice maker portion of the DA97-08587A Water Valve Assembly. As long as the ice maker compartment is 0 to -5 dgrs.F. The ice maker sensor should operate and cycle the ice maker, when the sensor reaches the prescribed temperature, it cycles the ice maker on and dispenses the cubes. At the end of the cycle, the fill valve is activated and is allowed enough time (7 to 10 seconds) to fill the ice maker mold, and the cycle starts all over again. If the valve is restricted in some way, the water will not flow properly and fill the mold, and the cubes will be reduced in size and/or production rate. . Read More...
