Pete De for Model Number FTQ3531WUX

When I turn on either of the 2 front (large) burners the control knob will not regulate the heat. Both burners stay on high regardless of the position of the control knob. These is true if the burn is turned to the large element or the smaller inner element. I find it strange that this is true for both front burners at the same time. Because of this effects both burners I'm thinking that the problem is something besides the control knobs malfunctioning?

1 Answer

Pete, With the burners not being regulated, this issue would be caused by a shorted limiter on the elements. The limiter cannot be replaced separately and will need to replace the elements.

Stacey, You will want to check the oven sensor to make sure that the sensor is good. The sensor should have 1090 ohms resistance. If the resistance is not right then replace the sensor. If the sensor checks ok then replace the main control board.

Smitty, With the oven not coming on and the display reverting to 150 degrees, you would want to check the output of the control board to see if it is sending power to the elements. It sounds like there is an issue with the control board on the unit. Also check the oven sensor to make sure that it has a resistance of approximately 1090 ohms.
