For Samsung Dryer Thermostat (Part Number: OEM12605685)

Vince for Model Number DV52J8700EP/A2

The heat stopped working on my dryer. I have the heater assembly out of the dryer but I'm unsure what switch or relay is bad. With a meter, I checked the coils themselves and the meter was reading around 13 - 15. I believe this is what I want to see? I checked the thermostat and that showed 0 on the meter. However, I have no means to heat this up, so I'm not sure if that is something that I need to be concerned with or not? Finally, I checked the thermal resistor and that was reading around 135 - 155. At this point, I'm kind of confused on what is good and what is bad. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Vince, There are 2 components other than the thermostats which would cause the heating element not to work. First is the motor and second the Control board. The best option is to disconnect the power to the unit and access the heating element. Disconnect one wire that is going to the heating element, preferably the one on the thermostat side. Plug the unit back up and using a multimeter you will want to turn the dryer on and test for 120 vac at the terminal on the heater where the wire was disconnected. What this will do is eliminate the heater element itself and the motor. If there is 120 vac at this point then you know the heater is good and the motor is good because the other 120 vac coming through the thermostats is the control board side of the circuit. If there is not 120 vac at that point then you will want to test the other terminal on the heater and check for 120 vac. If there is not 120 vac then the motor would be bad .

Edward, It will not matter which way the thermostat or thermal fuse are turned on the heater.

Hello Zsoldos. Sorry, the manufacturer does not list a rivet size for the unit. You should be able to see which size will fit into the hole on the thermal fuse and use that particular one for the unit. Thank you.

Hello William. You will need to take some rubbing alcohol and clean the sensor bars on the unit. If the issue continues, then try cleaning out the dryer vent and clean the thermistor. If it continues after that, replace the control board.

Stumped, It would most likely be the thermal fuse that has failed but will want to make sure that you clean the vent at the front where the lint filter is located all the way to the outside of your home as this issue will occur again if it is not cleaned.

Jimmy, If you need the thermal fuse for the side of the heater then the part number will be DC96-00887C and if you need the thermostat on the side of the blower housing it would be part number DC47-00016A.

Tim for Model Number samsung dv48j7700ew

Our Samsung dryer stopped heating. Everything else seemed to operate normally but would not get warm. I removed the heating element assembly to find that the thermostat had literally caught fire and burnt to a crisp - basically unrecognizable and in pieces. There is some charring on the sheet metal but no serious damage there. Is this a sign of just a faulty thermostat or something more serious to be concerned about? Will be replacing with p/n DC47-00015A. Thanks, Tim

Tim, It sounds like it would just be a faulty thermostat or maybe lint build up that caught fire.

Bond, The thermal fuse(s) in your dryer are in the heater circuit, and wouldn't cause the dryer to become inoperative. The more likely issue is the voltage surge damaged the main control board DC92-01624C, But first check the power cord and the connections at the terminal block on the back of the dryer, to make sure they didn't get damaged, then check/ repalce the control board, if ll looks good.
