Questions & Answers

For Samsung Microwave Temperature Control Thermostat (Part Number: OEM12659271)

1 Answer

Ron, The vent fan should not automatically come on when cooking under it. If the fan is coming on then this would most likely be an issue with the control board or the door switches on the unit.

Kevin, There is one thermostat for the fan motor that is normally open and closes on a rise in temperature. If unit is dead check the 20 amp fuse on the filter board where the actual plug comes into the microwave. If a fuse has blown then also check the door switches for continuity opening and closing the door should change the reading.

Ray, Unfortunately we do not have any information on Hamilton beach units. In most cases this would be caused by cooking things for longer than they need to be cooked.

Hello pcmassoc. It is normal for the HV to kick in and out. This prevents the magnetron from overheating and damaging the unit. As long as the food is cooking properly then the unit should be fine. If not cooking properly then the AHV transformer may need to be replaced. Thank you.

Scott C for Model Number SMH9187ST/XAA

I have a Samsung SMH9187ST/XAA microwave. It's been doing all sorts of strange things. It'll run for a while, but then the keypad won't respond. Sometimes it'll lose all power, and eventually boot back again. Once I had the fan on, and couldn't turn it off. Keyboard might go black, but all the lights are still on. So many different combinations of power and keyboard type symptoms are baffling. What ever it happens to be at the time, if I leave it for a few minutes, it all seems to start doing what I couldn't do a few minutes ago. Running it seems to make it worse for a while, but then it briefly recovers. I've heard that strange intermittent problems like this might be the thermostat starting to fail. Or might it be something else? What's the least expensive part to try first, if it could be a couple possibilities? Thanks for any help with this possessed microwave!
