Part Number: OEM15945573
Manufacturer Part Number: PA020041

This spark module controls ignition for the surface burners on gas cooktops and ranges. When a knob is turned, it generates the high-voltage spark needed to light the gas, restoring fast, consistent burner ignition across four positions.

  • Generates high-voltage pulses to ignite up to four surface burners
  • Activates when a burner switch is turned to provide reliable sparking to the igniters
  • Common symptoms include no spark on any surface burner
  • Intermittent or weak sparking across multiple burners
  • Burners only lighting with an external flame
What's included: One spark module. Install notes:
  • Disconnect electrical power and shut off gas before servicing
  • Photograph or label all wire positions; move wires to the new module one at a time to avoid miswiring
  • Mount the module securely in the original location; keep leads dry and routed away from heat/sharp edges
  • High-voltage hazard: do not touch igniter outputs during testing; verify all connections are fully seated before restoring power

For Viking Spark Module (0+4) (Part Number: OEM15945573)

John C. for Model Number Viking VGSC306-4BSS

Ignition for all 4 top burners seems to work OK when the oven is off, or when the oven is not very hot. But when the oven is hot (say, over 400 degrees), any top burner that is not already lit cannot be lit (no sparks, no sound). Any burner that is already lit remains lit and burning with typical intensity. The behavior stops when the oven is turned off and allowed to cool for a while. Could the spark controller be overheating, or could the hot oven somehow be tricking the spark controller's logic into thinking that it needed to lock out the spark action?

John, You will want to check to make sure that the cooling fan is running when the oven is on and if it is not then this would be the issue with the unit causing the top section to overheat and not operate. If it is then this would most likely be an issue with the spark module of the unit.

Thad, To be able to assist properly we will need to have the model number of the unit but it does sound like the issue would be in either the re-igniter or spark module issue.

Paulie, The most likely cause for the igniter on the burner to not spark and ignite the burner would be a faulty spark module.

Dan, You will want to check the wiring harness for the igniter that continues to click. Also check the ignition switch on the burner valve to make sure that the switch has no continuity except in the light position. If these things check ok then the issue would be with the spark module that is faulty.

K.D.D.

I have a Viking 6 Burner stove. The problem is that sporadically, four of the 6 burners will stop clicking/igniting when the individual knobs are turned on. The problem will persist for a few days and then correct itself and work properly for several days. The problem seems to correct itself (sometimes) when the oven is turned on and then comes up to temperature after a few minutes. Is this a faulty spark module? Is there short or a loose wire internally? Do I need to replace this part? Other possibilities? Thanks

1 Answer

Hello K.D.D., This is more than likely a combination of dropping the ground to the ignitor area of the cooktop, saturation of the ignitor wires, and a possibly failing spark module. When a unit begins to display this sort of complaint, the issue is best resolved by replacing all of the aforementioned parts since they all contribute to the issue. It is also advised to disassemble the metal parts of the cooktop and clean the surfaces between the metal where the screws hold them together to re-establish ground to the burner base.

Wally, You will want to allow the igniters to dry and if they are still not working then replace the igniters.

Hello Jeff, All of the gas surface burners will spark every click as a safety measure by the design engineers. This is normal.
