Chris January 01, 2020 for Model Number HAV2360AWW Hello, I have two questions about this answer that was provided to Ken: "Hi Ken. We apologise @ the web site issue and are diligently working on this as we speak. The manufacturer supplies the bolts for the inner tub basket. We are not sure why they changed the bolt type but I bet it has something to do with the bottom line .... If you have to use stainless thin, stainless flat washers under the head then it is completely understandable. This may help 2-fold. First to help bottom out to hold the inner tub down. Then with them all tighten the same it should hold laterally as you are concerned @ the inner basket. Thank You." Here are my two questions: First, what should the diameter of the washers be? And second, do I need to get more than one washer for each bolt so that the thickness of the washers on each new bolt equals the length of the shoulder on the old bolts? Thanks very much.
1 Answer Chris, while we can not specifically recommend doing this as it does change the design in a way, the washers would only have to be as wide in diameter as necessary to match the bolt head. In regards to how many would be needed, use only as much is necessary to allow the bolts to bottom out and hold, if they stick up too far, they can impact the agitator. Read More...
Chris December 20, 2019 for Model Number HAV2360AWW Hello, This is my first go around with using self-tapping screws. Can you recommend a video that shows the proper technique for installing these tub mounting bolts? Thanks.
1 Answer Chris In your case, and presuming you're replacing the tub seal kit you'll find it a bit easier if you partially drive the tub mounting bolts into the mounting stem, then remove them and install the tub/basket. You'll need a proper sized socket for the bolts, an extension(the longer the better) and ratchet wrench. Once the mounting stem is installed, center the bolt in one of the openings, use the socket, extension, and ratchet to drive the bolt while slightly pressing down on the ratchet. Drive the bolt halfway into the mounting stem opening then remove it, repeat for the remaining holes, install the cushion and tub install the tub bolts and drive them all the way down until the tub fits tight on the mounting stem. Darren June 07, 2019 I have a Maytag Model# MAV8557AWQ I'm looking at the Tub Mounting Bolt, part# AP6008458. It this new bolt/screw have the same thread pattern and size as the original screw? I just replaced the Tub Seal and the upon screwing the four original bolts for the inner tub into the hub one of the screws appears to be stripped and will not tighten. I wanted to replace all four screws, but wanted to make sure the screws would work not that the hub has had the original screws installed. I hope that makes sense. Thank you, Darren
1 Answer Hello Darren, yes the new bolt is identical to the original bolts. If one of the original bolts is loose in the hub so will the new bolt. That indicates the threaded hole in the hub is stripped out and the hub would need to be replaced. The hub kit is part W10219156. Read More...
Rob June 14, 2018 for Model Number MAV7600AWW The replacement bolts for the inner metal tub mount to the hub do not look like they will work. Is there any way to get the same bolts that I took out of the machine. These bolts need to be able to cut threads as they go in the aluminum hub. Any help is appreciated...thanks..
1 Answer Rob, The part number for the tub mounting bolt which is a cut thread bolt is WP3400504. Read More...
John B. March 21, 2014 for Model Number MAV8557AWW I need to replace the 4 bolts with shoulder that hold the inner tub in place. I bought the tub seal kit but it only had the coarse screws that cut threads in the plastic bearing housing. The 4 rusty bolts I removed need to be replaced. The bolts that the tub diagram seems to show (item #7) don't show in the picture whether these are aluminum cutting threads and the shoulder is not as wide as the original. You can tell by looking at the tip of the bolt - it has a chamfer. Bottom line is I need to replace my original bolts with confidence they will work. Please advise.
Ken July 04, 2012 for Model Number MAV7000AWW I stand corrected on my comment about the screws that come with the bearing kit where I stated they are for the bottom of both bearings. The screws shown in the picture thread into both the top and bottom of the plastic upper bearing housing. Four goes on top side and three on the bottom side. The screws in question P/N AP2900138 (Part 3400504)threads into the aluminum hub shown in the kit. However these screws do not come with that kit.
1 Answer Ken, Ok, The easiest way to remember is the three black screws, hold the bearing and housing to the tub support from underneat. The four silver screws are used to mount the outer tub assembly to the bearing housing from the top. You're also correct, the tub mounting bolts WP3400504 do not come with the seal/bearing kit W10219156, you " re use" the original tub mounting bolts. If you need the bolts, you have the correct part number WP3400504 / MPN 3400504, the parts picture is incorrect in the APP web page. Thanks for the clarification Read More...
Ken June 22, 2012 for Model Number MAV7000AWW The AP200138 screw is listed under item #7 in the tub section for the MAV7000AWW and is the replacement screws to hold the inner "spin" tub to the top of the bearing housing kit. The screws shown in the diagram for the bearing housing kit are for the "bottom" side of both bearings when replacing bearings or removing the transmission. The picture diagram does not match the part number listed for AP2900138 screw. The received screws appear to be the correct thread pitch and possible length however they do not have the original shoulder just below the head to tightly fit into the hole diameter to keep the inner tub from possibly leaking water past the screws and rusting the top bearing. Also any play could possibly cause the inner tub to slightly rotate in the screw hole opening and elongate the holes after a period of time. The conditon with the new screws appears to be uniform thoughout various websites and has no reflection for error by you folks. Your company has been an absolute pleasure to order from and the shipping time was remarkable.

Ken R June 18, 2012 for Model Number MAV7000AWW Ordered shoulder screws and these were replaced by the mfg and the new screws does not have the shoulder on part causing the tub to leak water Part 3400504
1 Answer Ken, Based on the post information and diagram, The WP3400504 screw, would not be associated with any tub component. You may have to order the tub seal kit W10219156 or 12001561 tub bearing/housing kit, to recieve the proper bolts. Thanks Read More...
