The Washer Door Latch Assembly is an OEM part for Whirlpool washing machines. This assembly is crucial for securing the washer door during operation, ensuring that the door remains closed and locked while the machine is in use. This helps prevent water leaks and ensures that the wash cycle completes safely and effectively.

You should replace the door latch assembly if it becomes faulty or damaged. Causes of a bad door latch assembly can include wear and tear over time, mechanical failure, or accidental damage from forcefully closing the door. A malfunctioning latch can prevent the washer from starting or cause it to stop mid-cycle.

Symptoms of a bad door latch assembly include:

  • The washer door not locking or staying closed
  • The washer not starting or pausing mid-cycle
  • Error codes related to door lock issues displayed on the control panel
  • Water leakage around the door area during operation

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

NOTE: Washer door latch, gray w/switches and ind. Light

Rick, you may want to inspect the wiring harness to ensure there are no loose connections and that the wiring follows the side of the main control. If the wiring runs over the back of the main control, it can cause electrical interference and cause the unit to shut down randomly. If the wiring checks good, then the most likely issue is going to be a main control WP22004299 issue.
