For Whirlpool Defrost Control Board (Part Number: OEM18061458)

Ryan for Model Number ED5PHEXNB00

The freezer it completely thawed out ruining everything inside. We removed everything and cleaned it out. The next morning the ice maker was full of good ice. Three days later it started thawing out again, thankfully we only put a loaf of bread in it which we used up. My friend suggests that it is the Defrost Timer which is now called an Adaptive Defrost Control Board. Does this make sense? The refrigerator side seems to be working properly and staying cold, no condensation or anything of that nature.

1 Answer

Hello Ryan, WPW10366605 is a very good suspect since it does have to cycle the defrost on and off. The relay on this board is a common failure on this design.

Edward King for Model Number WRS325FDAB02

I own a Whirlpool refrigerator model WRS325FDAB02, serial # HR40815951. This unit has been in service about eighteen months. Recently the LED lights, in both the fresh and frozen food compartments, have started flashing rapidly when the door is opened. I have unplugged the refrigerator for about fifteen minutes to see if anything would reset to stop this problem and it did not. It is unlikely that both light modules have gone bad at the same time. Whatever controls the lights seems to be the problem. The internet suggests a defective control module, W10366605. Is that the most likely cause of this issue? Also which part, W10366605 or WPW10366605 is the correct replacement for this unit? Both are listed as replacements but the WPW part cost over $240 versus the other that cost about $55. What is the difference?

1 Answer

Edward, Both of these parts are the same for your unit as the WPW10366605 is just an updated number. This would be the correct part to repair the unit.

Hello Chris. Make sure the condenser coils are clean. If the coils are clean and the condenser fan runs good, you have a sealed system issue. The would require an HVAC tech to repair the unit.

Bob, With the lights not coming on in either the refrigerator section or the freezer section then the most likely cause will be a failed control board WPW10366605.

My first question and your answer , see below have another Question to your answer: When my ref cycles on and off it has a loud noise like a click or knock sound I know its not compressor sound. Seems to come from either the temperature control switch turning on and off or could be a bad control board. Comes from the front of the ref. what could it be? P.S. I did order a new temp control switch I am thinking its the sound I hear turning on and off can this switch go bad? Mike for Model Number WRS325FDAM01 Answer Hello Mike. If the noise is coming from the temp control, then you will need to replace the temp control on the unit. You need to make sure it is not coming from the control board on the unit. If it is , then the board is bad. New Question my ref. is cooling good and all the lights works , so when it goes in the cycle for it to cool and turn off the ref. should be real quite no loud noise turn on and off right? Can the board be going bad and still everything looks normal and cause this loud contact noise to shut off and on ? could there be volts problem with the board ?

1 Answer

Mike, It is a possibility for the board to cause this clicking noise and the unit to still operate but the board, if making the noise, will eventually fail.
