Notsohandy August 14, 2011 for Model Number ED5GVEXVD00 My freezer is not dispensing ice. I can see the motor coupling turning when I take out the ice bin and press the ice dispenser. But the solenoid does not pull up to open the ice dispenser on the ice bin. Also if I put my finger on the motor coupling it wont move. It seems that there is very little power to turn the ice tray. Do I need to change the motor and the solenoid?
1 Answer Hi Notsohandy. First you will need to see if you have 120vac coming to the auger motor when the door switch is taped shut. Then have someone call for ice cubes. You should have 120vac at the auger motor coupling. Then if you do, you will need to replace the crusher solonoid and the auger motor assembly. The crusher solonoid is part # WP2152713. The auger motor is part # WPW10317991. Thank you. Read More...

Newbie May 29, 2011 This may be a stupid question but I have tried to pull on the coupler with the slipjoint pliers..I also tried to hold the screw with the slipjoint pliers and unscrew the coupler with my hand but STILL no luck. What am I doing wrong here? The coupler within the thread just moves freely. Please help
1 Answer Hello Newbie. The coupler is stripped out. You will need to pull on the coupler and turn it at the same time with the slipjoint pliers to remove it. These can be hard to do when they are stripped. Hope this helps. Read More...

Newbie May 26, 2011 for Model Number ED2FHEXVS00 My couple moves FREELY within that threaded screw...Do I remove just the coupler or the couple + threaded screw? Do I need to take apart the entire unit and then unscrew the coupler? My coupler moves freely and it won't come off..I tried pulling it..no luck..
1 Answer Hello Newbie. You will need to use some channel lock pliers and unscrew the coupling from the threaded shaft. Then screw the new coupling WPW10169511 onto the shaft. These acn be hard to get off, when the coupler cracks or strips out. You will need to pul and turn at the same time to remove. Hope this helps. Read More...
Dave April 09, 2011 for Model Number Kenmore Coldspot 106.58124700 I'm trying to remove my coupling and I'm turning it in the direction that the motor spins, but it won't come off. The motor just keeps spinning. Do you have any suggestions? I have removed the entire motor housing to try to get a better angle but no such luck.
1 Answer Dave, sounds like you've got a "stripped out" coupler thread. You are holding the motor shaft with a pair of pliers, aren't you ? If you are, then you may want to try pulling out on the coupler and turning, until you get past the stripped thread(s)and finish the removal process. Everything else you're doing is correct. Thanks, and Good Luck. Read More...

Gary March 07, 2011 Hello my whirlpool refrigerator ice dispenser quit working. I removed the ice bucket and pressed the light switch, and lever on door, to observe the ice dispenser motor. The motor seems to work fine, but the coupling spins loosely. I can turn it easily with my finger. Is this the problem? Do I need to replace the coupling?
1 Answer Hello Gary. The best tool to use is channel lock pliers. It unscrews in the same direction the auger motor turns. Hope this helps. Read More...
