The Dispenser Assembly is an OEM part for Whirlpool dishwashers. It is responsible for holding and releasing detergent and rinse aid during the wash cycle, ensuring dishes come out clean and spotless. This assembly is designed to fit seamlessly into the dishwasher's detergent compartment, coordinating with the dishwasher’s cycles for optimal performance.

Over time, the dispenser assembly can suffer from wear and tear, clogs, or damage to its components. Such issues can impede the proper dispensing of cleaning agents, negatively affecting the dishwasher's cleaning efficacy.

Symptoms of a bad dispenser assembly include:

  • Detergent or rinse aid not dispensing properly
  • The dispenser door not opening or closing correctly
  • Residual detergent left in the dispenser after the wash cycle
  • Leaks from the dispenser area

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Dispenser Assembly (Part Number: OEM18050631)

Tara for Model Number MDB7609AWB1

Thank you for your site as I would rather try a repair myself before calling a service rep. My Maytag dishwasher soap dispenser stopped popping open about 2 yrs after purchasing the dishwasher. Until coming across your repair, I filled the dispenser and let the cycle run. What are the chances the connector came loose? My second question is the top screws on both sides of the inside door (at the control panel) will no longer tighten. Do you have a recommendation? And do you sell the replacement screws? I'm concerned the other screws will no longer tighten and will wait for your answer before checking to see if the wire connector came loose on the soap dispenser. Thank you!!

Tara, oftentimes, the dispenser assembly WPW10199696 will receive voltage and the solenoid will not open the door. This can be tested for using a multimeter. In regards to the screw, a loose screw at the top corner indicates the console W10811155 mounting posts have broken down and replacement would be necessary to fix this.

Harley, Unfortunately, there would be no way to tell if this would work without the model number of your dishwasher.

Huntress, If the rinse aid is leaking inside the dishwasher then the cap WP8558307 would need to be replaced. If it is leaking between the doors then the dispenser would need to be replaced.

The rinse aid is dispensed towards the end of the wash cycle as it is doing a rinse. It is dispensed when the solenoid is engaged a second time and the rinse aid exits the dispenser through a port.
