The Broken Tab Ice Door Kit is an OEM part for Whirlpool refrigerators. This kit includes all the necessary components to repair or replace the ice door chute, which is responsible for dispensing ice from the ice maker to the ice bucket or directly to the user. The ice door chute must seal properly to prevent warm air from entering the freezer compartment, which can lead to frost and ice buildup.

Symptoms of a failing or broken ice door chute include:

  • Ice accumulating around the ice dispenser chute
  • Frost buildup in the freezer compartment
  • Warm air leaking into the freezer, causing temperature fluctuations
  • The ice door not closing properly or becoming stuck
  • Unusual noises from the ice dispenser area

Causes of a broken ice door chute can include regular wear and tear, physical damage from mishandling or excessive force, or deterioration of the sealing components over time.

This OEM part is also compatible with some models from Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore.

This kit is used if the ice door mounting tabs are broken off of the dispenser wall. If your model number uses this ice door WP2180353 or this ice door kit W10823377 this kit can be used.

For Whirlpool Broken Tab Ice Door Kit (Part Number: OEM11618085)

Dead_Eye for Model Number ED5LHAXWQOO

I ordered the kit (8201756) and followed the instructions in the sheet and also the video (which was very helpful). After the installation, the ice and water dispensers do not work and the ice dispenser door does not seal. I checked the seal before I re-installed the two electrical panels on the door. I think it may be the shape of the small electical panel which is hindering the door from sealing and do not know how to fix it. I do not have any idea why the ice dispenser and water dispenser are not working. Any suggestions?

Dead_eye, Most of the time when ice and water dispenser is not working is because of the bracket WP2180226 that houses the microswitches. You will need to remove this bracket and make sure no tabs are broke that hold the microswitch in place. This will also give you a chance to recheck your installation of the ice door kit to make sure it was installed correctly.

John, You will wan to check the bracket WP2180226 which holds the switches to make sure that the pins are not broken. If they are broken then the bracket will need to be replaced.

Mark for Model Number KSSC48QVS00

We have a Kitchen-aid 48* inch stainless side-by-side fridge/freezer. The door on the ice chute comes just short of closing, which would explain minor water leaking from the chute when the warm room air meets the ice at the bottom of the ice bin. I assume it needs either a new chute door or the door repair kit with spring and piston. I think the latter as the door doesn't close completely after the ice 'pad' has been activated. HOWEVER, my model is the 48" stainless steel side by side, and none of the videos seem to show how to access the chute on my model. There are 4 phillips screws, 2 on top and 2 on the bottom of the dispenser, each on a stainless tab that blends with the door. Is there a video for my model SER Number QW 2571010? It's not the model shown online with a plastic cover that pries off with a putty knife. Thank you in advance for your help!

Mark, In order to access the dispenser you will need to remove the stainless panel off he door. Once you remove the panel you will be able to pop the dispenser assembly out and replace the door.
