Carver, It is likely to be related as the wiring for the light does go through the door switch.

Hello Jolly, we need a little more information to help you, would you repost your question after checking these,does the timer turn at all, or does it turn but stops just short of the OFF position and you are turning it the last little bit,does it work correctly in time dry and not in auto/sensor dry. This may be just a faulty timer but here is also an electronic dryess contorl board that works with the timer.

Pamela, when looking at the connector for the door switch [WP3406107], there will be a slot in the center of both sides that will have a lock tab from the main harness that will need to be released to remove the door switch. The easiest way to do this is to use a flat head screwdriver to assist in separating the tab from the locking slot of the connector.

Paul, the original part has been updated as there are some models that have light bulbs and some that don't. This part was updated to accommodate for both types. This part should work as it is designated by the manufacturer to replace the original.

Raymond, The door switch would be the place that you would want to start with the unit not turning on. You can test the door switch for continuity.

Hello Vincent, The two wire switch is for a basic model with no light. The one with three connections is for a model with a light. You will need to use an ohm meter to determine which terminals to use. You will need to connect your wires to the two connections that only show continuity when the button on the switch is depressed.

Jim, You'll want to check the wiring again, make sure you didn't pinch or short a wire to the motor. It's not likely a start switch or door switch problem, based on your information. You may want to check the electronic control dryness board for damage or burnt, discolored areas, then make sure the contacts 5M and 6M on the motor have an open circuit, unless the motor is running.

Horst, Make sure you remove power to the dryer, before you start any repairs. Except for the top panel filter and duct screws, the procedure is the same as the video. use a putty knife or other flat blade tool to press in on the top panel spring clips and lift up on the corner at the same time. Once the top is up and braced, open the door and remove the two screws in the top of the opening, lift the switch up dismount it from the wire retainer, and disconnect the harness. since the switch is "flopping like a loose tooth." you may want to replace the two(2) mounting screws WP3395530 just in case.

Hello Horst, you should be able to flip the main top up by using a putty knife at the front edge of the main top. If not, you may need to remove the hinge points from the rear of the unit to remove the main top. You will then reach in to access the door switch from the top. I'm sorry but since this is a Kenmore, we cannot pull any more specific information on the model. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.
