Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Dryer Thermal Cut-Off Kit (Part Number: OEM9282741)

Hello Gary, If 240Vac is available at the terminal block, you will need to disconnect the red wire from the heat switch that leads to the thermal cutout, (the other goes to the timer). If 120Vac is present on the switch terminal, the timer and heat switch is good and the problem will be the centrifugal switch in the motor 279827, the heating element, the high limit thermostat, the operating thermostat, or the thermal fuse. All that is left in the circuit is the harness.

Hello John, If all connections at the wall outlet, terminal block, and breaker are tight and sufficient voltage are properly supplied to the unit, the issue will be either an intermittent set of contacts in the timer WPW10185982 or the motors' centrifugal switch 279827.

Hello Lynn. If it does not start immediately in high heat, it is the motor 279827 that needs to be replaced on the unit.

Hello Gail. Check the vent and the blower wheel. If all is clear, you will need to check the cycling thermostat on the unit.

Dennis for Model Number gleq1252ee0

My dryer stopped heating. I checked the elements and sensors for continuity and all were ok. I took off the control panel and found a burned terminal on the relay. I took the control panel apart and found the corresponding solder joint also burned and not making a good connection. Tried to resolder but still no good. I purchased a refurbished control panel and installed it and it worked great for two weeks and then the same problem came back. Same connector and solder joint burned. What could be causing the same exact problem to occur?

Hello Dennis, If your model number is actually GLEQ2152EE0, you will need to verify the voltage in the wall outlet. Incorrect voltage can cause high current flow. If you have access to a clamp on ampmeter you can clamp it around one wire in the heating circuit and make sure there is not a higher amperage than about 20.5. If it is at this reading, you will need to verify the thermistor reads about 50Kohms of resistance. If the amperage is high you will need to verify all connectors are fitting tight on there connection points and the harness is not crimped and the heating element is not shorted to ground.

Mike, You will want to disconnect the vent from the back of the unit and run the dryer on one of the cycles that is not advancing for 10 minutes with nothing in the unit. If the timer advances then the ducting needs to be cleaned out and if it does not advance then the cycling thermostat would be the issue.

Mike R for Model Number EED4400VQ0

My dryer timer will only advance in one of the 4 dryer/fluff cycles. In all cycles the heat will come on but the dryer stays on and will keep running until I manually advance the timer knob to shut off the heat and end the cycle by hand. I purchased a replacement timer from your company and replaced the old timer however I still am getting the identical effect as I did before I did the replacement. Could this replacement timer by defective or is there some other part that will correct the problem?
