Barry G January 06, 2020 for Model Number LER4634PQR My dryer is heating but still taking too long to dry clothes. What could be the cause. I cleaned the lint from the back. Checked continuity of fuses, & replaced a power cord with a burned prong. Is there a blower fan? What am I missing?
1 Answer Barry G, yes there is a blower fan, as long as the motor is turning, there should be air moving through the exhaust vent. I would get a thermometer and check the air coming out of the vent. With the dryer running in timed dry, high heat, you should see temperatures in the 160 range, the cycling thermostat should cycle between 140-160 degrees. Make sure there are no clothes in the drum when you run this check. If the temperature never gets this hot, replace the operating thermostat located on the blower housing, part number WP3387134, check it as close to the back of the dryer as possible. If the temps are normal, check the venting all the way through to the outside, you should have good airflow all the way through. Read More...

Ronald October 09, 2019 for Model Number WED5000DW2 Previously you gave me suggestions on why dryer heat is not working or does not get hot enough. Tried all except for centrifugal switch in motor. Is there any way to troubleshoot the switch before I buy a new motor. Thanks for your help.
1 Answer Ronald, You would manually have to move the centrifugal switch with your fingers and check the motor switch pins 1 and 2 for continuity. The switch is round and would move on the inside of the shaft. Read More...
Jeffrey October 04, 2019 for Model Number -31FIVE8OC-0338 ( I HAVE A STICKY FIVE ON KEYBOARD) My gas dryer's flame ignites then goes out then ignites and goes out over and over but doesn't get hot enough to dry just stays on like 3 or 4 seconds and goes out. Do you suspect its the thermal cut off fuse or something else????
1 Answer Jeffrey, based on the symptoms, the most likely cause would be the gas valve coils. Unfortunately, the model number provided is not showing up as a model number. If the model number of the appliance could be verified and provided in a new inquiry, the most accurate information could be presented. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Read More...
Ron October 04, 2019 for Model Number wed5000dw2 Dryer was getting too hot and blowing breaker (when set on med or high). We kept it on low and it worked. I decided to fix it and replaced all the parts of the heating system. Now it only heats periodically. Example- Morning not heating later in the day it will heat. Not sure if the heat temps are getting hot enough. Looked at the video for Hi-Limit cut out kit install. I do not have 2 red wires and an orange, only 2 reds. Any idea what the random heating issue could be? Thank You
1 Answer Ron, Possible that the timer contacts C to A are open or the heat switch could have opened. The only other option would be the centrifugal switch in the motor. Read More...
Shannon July 10, 2019 for Model Number REX5634KQ1 When connecting a jumper cable to the heating element, does it matter what terminal to use on the heating element? (Wire from dryer to one and jumper cable to other).
Don June 05, 2019 for Model Number Maytag medc500vwo Dryer was running too hot so I replaced thermo cut off kit. When I set the dryer fluff dry (no heat) I can still see the element gettin red hot. I checked the internal bias thermo and it had continuity cold. Any ideas?
1 Answer Hello Don, check the heater element coil. Its sounds like it is shorted to ground ,that would allow the element to heat any time the motor is running. The element is part 279838. Read More...
Alicia April 22, 2019 for Model Number Maytag MEDC555DW1 Dryer My dryer suddenly stopped coming on. We have checked continuity on the thermal fuse it is fine, door switch, start switch thermostats, timer switch. All of the parts tested, test good. What should I look at next?
1 Answer Alicia, you may want to check to ensure that your appliance is receiving 240VAC between both voltage supply wires. If the unit is not receiving 240VAC between the black and red wires at the terminal block WP3397659, then you may want to check the power cord as well as the outlet. If there is 240VAC, then you may want to test the timer WPW10185992 by rotating it to a cycle and testing the outgoing voltage to the push to start relay. If there is not voltage, then the timer has failed. Read More...
Todd April 20, 2019 for Model Number Whirlpool Dryer Model: LER4634EQ1 Type NO: 122-00 Hello, I've installed all the items from Order Number:9919123 Order Date:3/6/2019 The order includes heater coil, dryer thermal cut-off kit, thermal fuse, dryer cycling thermostat. The symptom or problem is that the dryer began taking almost twice as long to dry clothes, from around 1 hour typically to 2+ hours for the same load. I have an energy meter connected to that circuit. I can see the watts being pulled in real time. Back in February, I can see the dryer pulling 2.7KW steadily for a lot of the dry time. When the problem cropped up, I see the KW spiking up and down to around 1.5KW. After my installation of parts, the KW spikes a little higher, like 2.2KW but the same problem is there, the KW should stay high, no pop-up and then drop down almost immediately. Something's not right and since I've replaced all the relevant parts, not sure what else I can do. You can see the KW readings as a graph at this URL: https://www.evernote.com/l/AA7qjRlLCRtBYbDNQ9OxOdjPcLiCNLFUJ8w/ You can pretty clearly see how the dryer was steadily pulling 2.7KW before the issue came up, now the KW bounces up and down. Thanks. Todd
1 Answer Todd, The first thing I would check anytime clothes take to long to dry is your outlet exhaust. This includes the housing of your blower wheel all the way to the outside of your house. Especially when you have already replaced these components. Read More...
