Alfred October 10, 2021 for Model Number KGRS807 My gas oven heats up slowly and will only heat up to a low temperature. And when in broil mode the flame will not come on. I think the problem is with the spark igniter. Kitchenaid Gas Range Architect Series 2. model KGRS807
1 Answer Alfred, If the igniter is sparking then check for clogged ports in the burner and if there is none then this will most likely be a safety valve issue. Read More...
Steve March 28, 2021 for Model Number WFG510S0AB0 What would cause the oven to work perfectly fine sometimes i.e. ignitor starts up, heat comes on and everything but sometimes ignitor will make the ticking sound couple of times and the gas would start and fill up the whole kitchen but the oven won't start heating up at all. It has done that few times in past month, but now today it's working fine again. Will that be due to a weak ignitor or a faulty spark module?
1 Answer Steve, you have what is called DSI system, Direct Spark Ignition. All the power comes from a control board, a spark module in the console will be the most likely issue, part number is WPW10331686 Read More...
Steve December 01, 2020 for Model Number sanchez4495@sbcglobal.net I have a gas smell whenever I turn on the oven. I know that a little gas smell is normal but this is way more than usual. My first guess would be the igniter. Would you agree?
1 Answer Steve, yes, the first check would be the oven igniter and wiring. Check the wire to make sure it's not shorted or "pinched" to the cabinet or frame, the tip isn't damaged or "melted" and that it is in the correct position on the burner mount to properly spark and ignite the burner flame. Check the gas valve orifice, make sure it is clean and there's no debris, grease, or spillage in the opening of the orifice hood. Read More...
Bucky February 17, 2020 for Model Number Whirlpool Mod#SF368LEPQ 0 Broiler won't ignite. It sounds like it is trying to like but it doesn't I just smell gas. There is 50v when the oven is off no voltage when I turn the oven on. The bake portion of the oven works okay. I thought I could replace the broiler spark ignitor, but I was told I need to replace the main control module and overlay. Had it checked out last year and a new gas valve was installed. Everything was working ok. Please let me know what you suggests. Thank you!!!
1 Answer Hello Bucky, sounds like the spark from the DSI spark module is not reaching the broiler ignitor, in that case replace the spark wire harness WP8524207. Read More...
Rich April 08, 2019 for Model Number KGSA906PSS01 Kitchenaid gas range: The broiler lights for about 5 seconds and then goes out. It will attempt to re-light after a minute or so and does the same thing. Seems to have a good flame for those few seconds. Can it be a faulty igniter? I took out the burner and checked it - pretty clean, no rust, and no debris came out. The temp sensor checks out (1091) and the gas valve checks out (215 on both sides). The igniter is working but I read somewhere that it can still be faulty and cause this condition. Not sure what else to do. Thoughts?
1 Answer Rich, Is the range using Nat. Gas or LP Gas ? Are there any issues with the top burners ? The gas valve coils could still be weak, and "drop out" after a minute or two of operation. You may want to recheck the resistance at the time the gas valve shuts down, like any coil they can check proper when "cold". Check the wiring at the DSI spark module and at the igniter, again. If all's OK, the most likely issue is a weak or faulty ignition circuit for the oven in the DSI module WPW10331686 . Thanks, Read More...
Jim April 05, 2018 for Model Number SF380LEPS2 Yesterday my Oven wouldn't start. The Burners on top work fine but I can't get the Bake or broil to light. It clicks once and It doesn't appear that Gas is flowing. Can you tell me want this could be? I've read that both igniters wouldn't stop at the same time but I also read that one could cause the gas to not flow so they wouldn't work.
1 Answer Hello Jim, This can be the spark module WPW10331686 or a dropped ground but it is more likely a bad gas valve WPW10293048. Read More...
Alex March 12, 2018 for Model Number KGSS907SBL00 Hello, before I start throwing parts at my range, I'd like some help with diagnosing an issue with the bottom flame not turning on sometimes. I'd say 30% of the time, the bottom element won't turn on. I hear clicking and gas flows (I use a BBQ lighter to turn in on during the 2nd try if the 1st doesn't work). It has a better chance of working if I use convection bake instead of bake and sub-freezing outdoor temperatures somehow make it much worse. I cleaned the points on the spark igniter and it seemed to help for a week or two, but it's back to being fussy. Top elements and broil work 100% of the time. What is the probable cause?
1 Answer Alex, This issue sounds likely that it would be a oven safety valve that is not opening properly if you have spark at the igniter. Also check to make sure that the burner is clean and has no rust or debris on the ports which could also cause this issue. Read More...
Anthony November 01, 2017 for Model Number wfg530s0es0 When on bake, the broil igniter will spark but not the bake ignitor.
Idoitall September 30, 2017 for Model Number KGSS907SSS01 My kicthenaid gas ranger MOD KGSS907SSS01 top burners works fine but the oven wont even make a click as I turn it on Ive checked the for dirt around where gas comes out -nothing there the broil electrical element is the only to heat up it took me almost all day to bake a small turkey. The warmer drawer also do not work. I would like to do the repair myself so, Can you tell me if I need to replace oven and broil igniter? Any help tips (video link) would be appreciated.
1 Answer Idoitall, With this issue you will want to check the oven safety valve for 216 ohms of resistance and if the resistance checks ok then this will likely be the spark module. Read More...
Stacey June 09, 2017 for Model Number Whirlpool Model # WFG510S0AS One day my oven stopped working! The stove top still ignites just fine, and it appears the broiler works too. When I hit start on the oven, I hear several clicks and can smell gas but no flame kicks on. Ideas on which part I might need? Thanks!
1 Answer Stacey, You will want to check the burner assembly for the bake to make sure that there are not clogged ports and that there is nothing in the entrance of the burner tube. If this checks ok then the most likely issue will be a faulty igniter. Read More...
