The oven broil element delivers intense radiant heat from the top of the cavity to sear and brown foods. Replace a burned-out or shorted element to restore reliable broiling performance and even top heat.

  • Produces high, radiant heat from above when Broil is selected
  • Helps sear meats and brown casseroles quickly and evenly
  • Common failure signs: no heat on Broil, weak/uneven browning, visible cracks/blistering or breaks
What's included: 1 broil element Install notes:
  • Disconnect power at the breaker and allow the oven to cool completely
  • From inside the oven, remove mounting screws, pull the element forward, and disconnect the two wire terminals; support wires so they don't slip back
  • Transfer any mounting bracket/spacers from the old element if present; reconnect terminals firmly
  • Inspect and replace any heat-damaged terminals; test Broil before final reassembly

Hello Wally. That is not the element doing that, that would be the thermostat in the unit causing that issue.

Hello Oscar. Yes, the element is actually testing bad, not good, based on the readings you provided. You need to replace the element in the unit.

Hi Mary. Yes it is used during preheat so it will need replaced since it is not heating. It is part # WP8053874. Remove power and then take the back off and remove the terminals. You need to have a volt/ohm meter to make sure the element ohms out between 18-32 ohms and not open. If it is open then replace it. Then you need to set the meter leads in each of the element leads to see if you get the 240 vac to the element. If you do then you have both 120 vac legs from 1- the terminal block and 2- the broil relay. You need to get 120 vac from the broil relay and ground or the white common neutral. If you do not then change the clock control part # WP8523665. Thank You.
