Jim January 01, 2016 for Model Number JES9800AAW I saw a previous post where the person mentioned the replacement part (12002149) wires were different than original. This appears to be the case for mine as well. How do you find out the proper wiring for the replacement?
1 Answer Jim, Unfortunately we do not have wiring information for the new part but it appears that the only change in the part would be the way that they connected the element. On the original there was a black wire from the middle terminal on the element that went to the limiter box. This change is that the black wire was removed and they soldered that joint in place and it is the inner most terminal instead of the middle. The middle terminal will now take the other wire that was on the element on the inner most terminal. Read More...
Mike December 20, 2015 for Model Number MER6770AAW I bought a replacement front dual element for this model and received a #12002144 - this element does not have the same terminals. Original has 7 wires/connecting stove to element. The replacement has only 6 connections which would cause 2 different wires to be hookep to 1 terminal ?? The picture on the website shows the proper hook up. I need the element shown on the website.
1 Answer Mike, On the new element the wire that originally went to the center terminal on the element and the inner terminal on the limiter next to the 3 connections of the element would not have that wire any longer. This has been hard wired into it and the inner most terminal on the original element will go to the center and the outer most wire will go to the outer terminal. The other 3 wires will connect the same as before. Read More...
Dan October 31, 2015 for Model Number MER5770AAW Element Kit Part Number: AP4009116 Made by: Whirlpool I recently ordered the double element kit for my Maytag oven, and belatedly noticed that the attachment points for the wires are ordered differently than the old model, with the 2a and 1b posts being switched on the new burner from their old positions. When I wired it according to the old layout, both the inner and outer burners would only come on high, and the rear burner element switch will also operate the interior element on the new burner. Unfortunately, I can't get the 2a wire to the post position on the new element, as the wire is too short. I'm guessing my problems are a result of the new post positions, but I"m not sure if there is a workaround - can I add wire to lengthen the wire that won't reach the new 2a position?
1 Answer Dan, Yes you can add wire to reach the 2a position, you will just want to make sure that you use a high temp wire as the wire insulation could be damaged otherwise. Read More...
Todd May 31, 2015 for Model Number MER5770BAB The right front element out ring comes on but the middle ring stays off. Is the element or the Infinite switch. Thanks
1 Answer Hello Todd. Test for power to the middle ring. If there, replace the element. If not there, replace the switch. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...

Alan March 21, 2015 for Model Number JER8850BAW The right front burner with dual elements will stay on high, no matter what setting we put it on, even if we only use the small inner element only. I assume this is not an element issue. What part would I need to replace?
1 Answer Alan, The part that you would need for the unit would be the dual element switch part number 74006797. Unfortunately the switch has been discontinued by the manufacturer with no suitable replacement. Read More...
Johnl November 08, 2014 for Model Number MER6770AAB Right front burner (dual element) large, outer element will not come on . Inner element is working. Switch or burner?
1 Answer John L., With the inner element working but the outer not then this would most likely be caused by a faulty infinite switch. Read More...

Lynn October 11, 2014 for Model Number ART6600WW I have two questions please. One is what is the difference between my # 77001038 and 12002144 please? Two is how could I tell if my faulty burner (only small inner burner working now) is an element issue or a control switch issue?
1 Answer Lynn, Both of the elements that you listed look identical but may have a different wattage to them. Normally if the outer element lights up but the inner does not then the issue would be with the element itself. The part number that you would need is W10823709. Read More...
Jimr March 28, 2014 for Model Number mes5770aab The large dual element on our stove doesn't seem to work right. It gets hot but it doesn't have the same amount of temp. Adjustment as the other burners. You have to turn it all the way down to get a low setting and when you put it on medium it gets real hot then cuts down low and goes back and forth. Is that a switch issue or a burner issue? Thanks for your help. Jim
1 Answer Jimr, This issue would most likely be caused by a faulty infinite switch. The fact that it goes to the low setting and regulates means that the limiter is working but the switch is not allowing it to cut off. Read More...
