Jill May 29, 2014 for Model Number khhc2090sss Hello - When I was using my Kitchenaid khhc2090sss microwave this morning (it is about 6.5 years old) I started hearing some buzzing and popping noises then after I removed the item and shut the door it powered off and I can't get it back on. I have checked the circuit breaker and outlet and everything is fine. The problem is definitely with the microwave itself. The main panel will not come on when I plug it in, nor will the light inside the microwave. I suspect the interior fuse is blown. I have read your other replies about how to test it and replace it but how do I get to it? Do I go down through the top or up from the inside of the microwave? The microwave is mounted above the range, under the cabinet, so I'm hoping I won't need to remove it from the wall. Thank you!
1 Answer Hello Jill. It will need to be removed and the outer cover taken off to access the fuse. You will also need to check the door switches and the H.V. parts of the microwave. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Cleveland February 17, 2014 for Model Number wmh1164xws-1 My breaker tripped to the microwave and now it shows no signs of power after resetting the breaker. I tried another outlet but no difference. Could it be a fuse?
1 Answer Hello Cleveland, This is normally a ceramic fuse W10422269 that has blown due to a bad door switch W10269460, W10269458, or W10727360. Read More...
Joe December 17, 2013 for Model Number MH1170XSB-O The other day I was in a hurry to get out the door. When I was done using the Microwave, I accidentally slammed the door a little too hard and it looked like the power went out on the microwave. When I got home that evening I tried resetting the braker in the garage, but it didn't come on. I unplugged the unit and checked the door sensors all three look to be good. Could it be the fuse? The Megnatron fuse? Maybe even the control panel itself? Please help I need some hints. I don't want to go out and buy parts I don't need. Thank you!!
1 Answer Hello Joe. Yes, it sounds like the fuse and one of the door switches on the unit is bad. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Basil November 06, 2013 for Model Number gh5184xpb4 I found the thermal fuse in my Whirlpool microwave. The ceramic is gray, not white. Is this normal? Also, I noticed it's a 250v/20a fuse - will any ceramic fuse of this rating do the job?
1 Answer Hello Basil. It is normal for the fuses to be different colors. As long as the fuse is the same size, it should work in the unit. Read More...
Eric October 17, 2013 for Model Number khms155lss-1 The microwave has zero power. I've checked for continuity on the thermal fuse in my unit and the fuse is most definitely blown. It looks rather accessible after pulling off the front control panel, but there is a big piece of plastic (part of the fan housing I think?) blocking me from getting to the fuse. How do I replace the fuse? Also, when replacing the fuse, what precautions do I need to take with nearby high-voltage components (aside from unplugging the microwave)? Thank you!
1 Answer Hello Eric. Make sure the unit is unplugged. Remove the outer cover to access and replace the fuse. Also, check the door switches as they usually cause the fuse to blow. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Norman September 14, 2013 for Model Number GH5184XPB-3 Good morning. I have no power at all to my Whirlpool microwave model number GH5184XPB-3. Can I access the fuse without removing the entire unit from the wall and removing the entire cover? Thank you in advance.
1 Answer Norman, There is a ceramic fuse that is located behind the control panel that you can test to see if it is bad. You would remove 2 or 3 screws from the top of the unit that holds the grille in place. Once the grille is removed you would remove 1 screw that holds the control panel in place. Test the fuse for continuity. If this fuse checks ok then you will need to pull the unit and check the cavity thermal cutoff. Read More...
Keith June 25, 2013 for Model Number Mh1150xmb-1 I was changing out the light bulb under the microwave that light up the stove. It cause the bulb to short out and now the microwave itself doesn't work. What can I do?
1 Answer Hello Keith, This could be a fuse, low voltage transformer, a wire shorting to ground, a bad light socket shorting out, or a solder connection you heard pop. The unit will have to be opened up to check for the issue. Read More...
Al G. February 20, 2013 for Model Number gh5184xps4 my accuwave microwave oven wont heat things up. tray turns, it counts down like it should, and when i try to use any of the automatic sensor functions it stops and displays -F3H- . also the fan no longer works.
1 Answer Hello Al, The F3H error code indicates a humidity sensor failure. To test you will need a good sensor and control board. You will unplug unit and connect sensor to P5 on the control board. Plug unit back up. If the error code does not come up then install the sensor. If error code returns then replace control board. Read More...
Pam December 02, 2012 for Model Number GH7208xr Our microwave stopped working about a week ago. Nothing on it works, not lights, switches, nothing. We checked the basement fuse box and it is fine. I believe it could be the fuse inside the oven. How do we get to it and replace it? Need detailed instructions, thanks!
1 Answer Hello Pam, To replace the fuse you will first unplug unit. Once unplugged there are 2 or 3 screws on the top front of cabinet that hold in the grill. Remove screws and grill. Once grill is off then there is one screw at top of the control panel. Remove screw and control panel. Once remove you should see a buss fuse. This is a 20 amp fuse. You can pull this out and test for continuity on it. If there is no continuity then you would want to replace the fuse. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
