This is a thermal safety fuse that opens the circuit if temperatures rise beyond a safe limit, protecting the appliance from overheating and preventing further damage. Replacing a failed fuse restores power to the affected circuit once the underlying cause is addressed.

  • Monitors temperature in a protected circuit and cuts power if unsafe heat is detected
  • Helps prevent overheating-related damage
  • Typical failure signs: no power/no operation, cycle won't start, shuts off mid-cycle after overheating event
  • Must not be bypassed; replace if open and investigate the root cause of overheating
What's included: 1 thermal fuse Installation notes:
  • Unplug appliance or disconnect power before service
  • Verify the fuse is open with a multimeter; replace only after correcting any airflow/overheating issues
  • Install in the same orientation and location as the original to ensure proper temperature sensing
  • Handle wiring carefully; transfer connectors one at a time to avoid miswiring

For Whirlpool Thermal Fuse (Part Number: OEM21675663)

Jill for Model Number khhc2090sss

Hello - When I was using my Kitchenaid khhc2090sss microwave this morning (it is about 6.5 years old) I started hearing some buzzing and popping noises then after I removed the item and shut the door it powered off and I can't get it back on. I have checked the circuit breaker and outlet and everything is fine. The problem is definitely with the microwave itself. The main panel will not come on when I plug it in, nor will the light inside the microwave. I suspect the interior fuse is blown. I have read your other replies about how to test it and replace it but how do I get to it? Do I go down through the top or up from the inside of the microwave? The microwave is mounted above the range, under the cabinet, so I'm hoping I won't need to remove it from the wall. Thank you!

Joe for Model Number MH1170XSB-O

The other day I was in a hurry to get out the door. When I was done using the Microwave, I accidentally slammed the door a little too hard and it looked like the power went out on the microwave. When I got home that evening I tried resetting the braker in the garage, but it didn't come on. I unplugged the unit and checked the door sensors all three look to be good. Could it be the fuse? The Megnatron fuse? Maybe even the control panel itself? Please help I need some hints. I don't want to go out and buy parts I don't need. Thank you!!

Hello Basil. It is normal for the fuses to be different colors. As long as the fuse is the same size, it should work in the unit.

The microwave has zero power. I've checked for continuity on the thermal fuse in my unit and the fuse is most definitely blown. It looks rather accessible after pulling off the front control panel, but there is a big piece of plastic (part of the fan housing I think?) blocking me from getting to the fuse. How do I replace the fuse? Also, when replacing the fuse, what precautions do I need to take with nearby high-voltage components (aside from unplugging the microwave)? Thank you!

Norman, There is a ceramic fuse that is located behind the control panel that you can test to see if it is bad. You would remove 2 or 3 screws from the top of the unit that holds the grille in place. Once the grille is removed you would remove 1 screw that holds the control panel in place. Test the fuse for continuity. If this fuse checks ok then you will need to pull the unit and check the cavity thermal cutoff.

Hello Keith, This could be a fuse, low voltage transformer, a wire shorting to ground, a bad light socket shorting out, or a solder connection you heard pop. The unit will have to be opened up to check for the issue.

Hello Al, The F3H error code indicates a humidity sensor failure. To test you will need a good sensor and control board. You will unplug unit and connect sensor to P5 on the control board. Plug unit back up. If the error code does not come up then install the sensor. If error code returns then replace control board.

Hello Pam, To replace the fuse you will first unplug unit. Once unplugged there are 2 or 3 screws on the top front of cabinet that hold in the grill. Remove screws and grill. Once grill is off then there is one screw at top of the control panel. Remove screw and control panel. Once remove you should see a buss fuse. This is a 20 amp fuse. You can pull this out and test for continuity on it. If there is no continuity then you would want to replace the fuse. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
