This is a thermal safety fuse that opens the circuit if temperatures rise beyond a safe limit, protecting the appliance from overheating and preventing further damage. Replacing a failed fuse restores power to the affected circuit once the underlying cause is addressed.

  • Monitors temperature in a protected circuit and cuts power if unsafe heat is detected
  • Helps prevent overheating-related damage
  • Typical failure signs: no power/no operation, cycle won't start, shuts off mid-cycle after overheating event
  • Must not be bypassed; replace if open and investigate the root cause of overheating
What's included: 1 thermal fuse Installation notes:
  • Unplug appliance or disconnect power before service
  • Verify the fuse is open with a multimeter; replace only after correcting any airflow/overheating issues
  • Install in the same orientation and location as the original to ensure proper temperature sensing
  • Handle wiring carefully; transfer connectors one at a time to avoid miswiring

Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Thermal Fuse (Part Number: OEM21675663)

Lei, It's not likely the fuse, an "open" fuse would also eliminate the display. If you can't activate the lights or vent hood and you can't program a cook cycle, or change the clock time, it's most likely a faulty keypad 4393904. You may want to start there

Hello James, Unplug the unit first. Now if you run your fingers across the top edge of the unit, you will notice a couple of screws at or near to each end. Removing these two screws will enable you to remove the air grille across the front of the unit. It may have to slide to one side to come completely off. Once removed, you will notice a single screw in the center above the control panel. This screw holds the control panel in position. Once removed, you can slide the control assembly up and it will come off out of its' slots. The ceramic fuse is normally in this opening. Some configurations do not require the removal of the control panel to access the fuse.

Karla, First you'll need to unplug the power cord, Remove the screws, across the cabinet top, holding the vent grille to the cabinet. Remove the screw that attaches the control panel / keypad assembly to the chassis. Slide the panel up slightly to unhook the tabs and pull the assembly out and off the chassis. The fuse should be mounted on the right sidr of the opening. Be very careful, there are several high voltage components located in this area, and can cause severe shock and burns to your body if you touch them.

Hi Brad. You need to use a volt/ohm meter part # MA-DM1. On the gray wire from the 1P3 wire and the Yellow wire from the 1P2 connector you need 120 vac output as you ask the light to come on. The control panel is part # WPW10164891. Make sure you have clean, tight conections. If you have the voltage output then you need to make sure there are no pinched wires from the panel to the bulb sockets. Thank You.

Tom, Check for 120 VAC at the new fuse , from the A/C line filter first. Then check the 4 amp fuses on the control board at the P12 connector pin 1 green wire, and pin 4 yellow wire. If either fuse is open, you will eliminate the voltage circuit to the control board. Thanks

Cindy, No, at this point it would not be an in line fuse or thermostat. The timer and clock would not work, if it were. At this point it would be a door switch problem(there are several) or PCB (power control board) 8206534, W10211972 W10269458. The PCB is the more likely issue, at this point. Thanks and Good Luck.
