The Fresh Food Door Gasket is an OEM part for Whirlpool refrigerators. It seals the refrigerator door, keeping cold air inside and preventing warm air from entering, which helps maintain the proper temperature and efficiency of the refrigerator.

You should replace the fresh food door gasket if it becomes damaged or worn out. Common causes of a bad gasket include wear and tear from regular use, exposure to temperature fluctuations, or physical damage from cleaning or handling.

Symptoms of a bad fresh food door gasket include:

  • The refrigerator door not sealing properly
  • Increased energy consumption
  • Frost or condensation buildup around the door
  • Visible cracks, tears, or deformation of the gasket

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Jorge L. for Model Number Whirlpool refrigerator model ET21DKXDW04

I have condensation in the refrigerator section, underneath the plastic housing where the light bulbs and thermostats are (attached to the ceiling). There is no condensation around the gasket, although the magnet of the gasket does break through the rubber part of the gasket in some areas. The magnet appears to seal properly. At the coldest setting, during summer months the lowest temperature the fridge reaches is about 40F, but it can come close to 50F when the door is opened often (as it is when the kids are home). Is the condensation under the plastic housing normal (it is substantial) and is 40F normal for the lowest temperature under the coldest setting. If not normal, what may be the problem? Thank you.

Hello Jorge, The moisture or condensation will be due to one of two issues or a combination of the two. Number one, the defrost drain has stopped up and the defrost cycle is contributing moisture with each defrost. Number two, the evaporator fan motor WP4389142 has failed and there is an abnormal amount of moisture in from defrost cycle due to the frost build-up across the top of the evaporator coil. You will need to remove the back wall of the freezer section to check these things out and pinpoint the issue.

Jackie, the beige gasket is part number 2159061 and the black gasket is part number 2177311. Pull the old gasket off. The new gasket will press into the door liner. It may be best to soak the new gasket in warm water to help take its shape/form You may need to use a hair dryer to form the seal, be careful not to melt it. Hope this helps!

George, Open the refrigerator door as far as possible, visually check the lower hinge side of the gasket to see if it is "rolled" over, rolled back or torn. Check and make sure there is nothing hanging over the door bin rails or on the refrigerator shelves causing the door to remain slightly open. Another check to make is, open the door to 90 degrees and lift up on the door or door handle, there should not be a lot of movement(approximately 1/8 to 1/4 inch) and look around the door panel for metal powder or shavings, this would indicate the door "cups" have worn out, and you'll need to replace the door panel assembly. The door gasket 2159061, is a white or off white colored gasket, the beige (mist beige) is the color of the refrigerator.
