The Gasket is an OEM part for Whirlpool dishwashers. This gasket seals the gap between the dishwasher door and the main tub, preventing water from leaking out during the wash cycle. It ensures a watertight seal that helps maintain the efficiency and performance of the dishwasher.

Over time, the gasket can deteriorate due to regular use, exposure to heat, and contact with detergents. A faulty gasket can lead to water leaks, which may cause damage to surrounding cabinetry and flooring.

Symptoms of a bad dishwasher gasket include:

  • Water leaking from the bottom or sides of the dishwasher door
  • Visible cracks or tears in the gasket
  • The dishwasher door not closing properly
  • Increased noise levels during operation

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Norm, You don't have to buy a new dishwasher, On the other hand, you can't purchase a "whole new complete door", either. First check the lower frame, where the door hinges pivot of the hinge pins, make sure they're not bent or deformed too bad. Then you can order the inner door panel and hinges, tweak the outer door panel back into shape and transfer the original parts to the new door liner and you're back in business.

Andrew, Check and make sure the dishwasher is level in both directions. Check or replace the detergent and rinse agent. Older chemicals can "separate" and degrade and will "foam" during the cycle, and cause the machine to leak. Lastly check the float [AP292084] make sure it's not "sticky" and may be allowing the machine to overfill.

Andrew, It sounds like the door seal may not be installed properly and the door seal may be running under the door in the lower corners. If this is occurring then it will cause the door to no close properly. There was an instruction sheet that came with the part that you will want to make sure that the door seal is installed per the instructions.

Hello Rich, The door gasket kit W11196317 is the part that prevents water from splattering all over the kitchen. The outer frame seal W10864081 keeps things from getting past the edge of the dishwasher into the cabinet space. If I understand the question correctly, this should answer your question.

Todd for Model Number kitchenaid Kudm01fkss1

The heater coil where it attached at the bottom of the dishwasher is worn and is leaking through the seal. Looking at diagrams it does not appear to screw off and the sleeve I have is shaped like a nut, I am trying to find out if I can just replace that grommet and how does it come off. I am trying to keep from removing the hole unit but I will if need be. I am also going to replace the front seal due to wear so do I need to replace the bottom seal also at the same time?

1 Answer

Hello Todd. The bottom nuts 8268548 unscrew off the heater from under the unit. Then you will lift the heater and replace the washers WP717273 to prevent the unit from leaking.

Derek, There are several checks to make, and the issue could be "normal" Check the water temperature on the first fill of the cycle, after you've run the hot water faucet for a minute or so. The water temp. should be a minimum of 120 dgrs and a Maximum of 130 dgrs.F. You'll need to slide the dishwasher out and check the air/water inlet on the side of the tub. and check the articulated vent operation. If all checks OK, then some moisture in the cabinet is normal.
