The Gasket is an OEM part for Whirlpool dishwashers. This gasket seals the gap between the dishwasher door and the main tub, preventing water from leaking out during the wash cycle. It ensures a watertight seal that helps maintain the efficiency and performance of the dishwasher.

Over time, the gasket can deteriorate due to regular use, exposure to heat, and contact with detergents. A faulty gasket can lead to water leaks, which may cause damage to surrounding cabinetry and flooring.

Symptoms of a bad dishwasher gasket include:

  • Water leaking from the bottom or sides of the dishwasher door
  • Visible cracks or tears in the gasket
  • The dishwasher door not closing properly
  • Increased noise levels during operation

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Hello Sean, you need to figure out where the leak is coming from. Replace the door seal W11196317 if the leak is around the door. If it's underneath the machine you may have a leak at one of the hoses or the sump assembly WP8572618. Hope this helps!

Tom, As long as you follow the instructions that come in the kit, you should be fine. You may want to "clean" the tub flange, where the gasket adheres to it, with a little bit of rubbing or denatured alcohol first. If you do need to return the part, there should be no problems, APP has a "no hassle" return policy for the part, but you will be responsible for the return shipping.

Hello Debbie. When installing the gasket W11196317, you should use a putty knife to seat the gasket into the channel. It can take time for these to form to the shape of the door. You can try heating the gasket, closing the door tightly and let it cool down to help form the gasket.

Hi Gina. Door Gasket Kit - Door seal repair kit comes with black rubber seal, adhesive and instructions Part Number: W11196317. 1. Remove existing tub seal from channel and wipe seal channel dry.2. IMPORTANT: Check that door does not rub on buttons, located on either side of the door. If the buttons rub the door, adjust front leveling legs to center the door. The buttons should NOT rub on the door when closing. IF BUTTONS RUB AFTER MAKING ADJUSTMENTS IN THE FRONT, CHECK THAT REAR WHEELS ARE LEVEL.INSTALLING NEW SEAL: 1. Beginning in top center, apply 1/8" diameter bead adhesive along the top and left side. Again from top center, apply adhesive along top and right side.2. Insert new seal, starting at bottom right. With the retaining flipper and the white line facing the outside of the tub. See Figure 4. Install bottoms and corners of seal in each of the four points as shown. At points 1 and 4, the gasket should just touch the bottom of the tub; it should not be “wrapped” under the door. See Figure 3. After seal is lightly installed, go back along entire surface of seal and push seal securely into place. Seal must rest tightly against tank.NOTE: White stripe on seal should be pointed toward outside of tub.3. Wipe any excess adhesive. Close door and reinstall dishwasher. Adhesive will require 24 hours of curing time to fully set up. KEEP UNIT DOOR CLOSED DURING THIS TIME. Note, the white stripe should be the outer "pointed" area of the door seal. This face's out towards the door, with a slight lean towards the inside of the tub. (not pointing outward to the left or right). Thank You.

On the bottom corner the gasket has rotted. The seal otherwise is in good condition. On the other corner the gasket is a continuous extension of the seal that goes all the way around. The bottom corner piece is not attached to the machine, but is loose. I think it has always been that way. There is no gasket that goes across the bottom except at the corners. What is the part number I need to make the repair? I assume it is a job for a pro but I would like to have the part here and ready to install when I call for service.

Dr. The parts you should need are : W11196317 and the lower door seal 4172127. You would also want to check and make sure the door hinges, and hinge pins on the frame of the dishwasher are not damaged or distorted. Here are some basic instructions, should you decide to attempt the repair yourself. : First, remove power to the dishwasher. 1. Remove the access and toe panels from underneath the dishwasher door by removing the two (4) screws securing it to the dishwasher frame. Remove the eight (8) screws securing the outer door panel to the dishwasher door frame. Remove the outer door panel from the door frame. Thanks and Good Luck

Jim for Model Number Kitchenaid KUDS25SH WH1

Water leaking out bottom of door. Replaced gasket (W10112096) and lower door seal (4172127). Still leaks. Lower spray arm assembly turns freely - top and bottom bearing rings look good - all holes in arms are open and clean - no splits in the arms. Upper washer arms also turn freely and are in good shape.Water fill float moves freely. How deep should the water in the tub be? (does not cover heater element) Any suggestions on locating the cause of the leaking door?

Jim, Did you also check the door hinges and mounting pins on the frame, to make sure, they weren't damaged or tweaked out of shape. Make sure the dishwasher is level in both directions, and the water level in the tub should be in contact with the heater element after a 5 minute wash and run cycle. Here's an easy diagnostic tool, Take a pair of pliers and insert the handle end through the tines on the lower rack and block the lower wash arm, so it cant turn/ rotate, and run the dishwasher, If leak subsides, the problem is definitely in the lower spray arm or bearing/seals, if leak persists, you'll need to check the water supply tube and pump assembly. Thanks and Good Luck
