Clyde June 01, 2017 for Model Number kenmore 110.24944300 When selecting wash mode, the washer will fill with water and then there is a slight hum yet it will not agitate. What could cause this? If I advance the timer to spin mode it does not spin.
1 Answer Hello Clyde, This will either be a wire that has come loose from the motor capacitor, a bad motor capacitor WP8572720, or something is in the drain pump WP3363394. Read More...
Bob Jones April 29, 2017 for Model Number Kenmore Washer model 82383110 We leaked about a 1/3 cup of oil while the washer was on it's front side for maintenance. Is there a way to add oil back to the crank case? Is 1/3 a lot to have lost?
1 Answer Bob, You are able to put the oil back in the unit but would need to remove the transmission and open it up to get it back in. It will not be necessary to put more oil in as this unit will run with minimal oil. Read More...
John January 13, 2017 for Model Number whirpool washer wtw5310sq0 What type of transmission fluid can I add to a gearcase?
John P December 05, 2016 for Model Number Maytag LAT2300AAE The agitator shaft on my Maytag washer rises up occasionally during a cycle and stops turning. I can actually lift the shaft out of the transmission which leads me to believe the shaft spring is broken. I suspect water has entered the transmission oil and I will need to replace it when installing the new shaft spring. I cannot seem to find the proper transmission oil for my model washer. Thanks for your help. John
1 Answer John, You're on track and on target. Once you determine what happened to the collar WP22002340 or spring retainer clip WP215581 you will need to drain the gearcase and replace the oil, with part number 6-0560800. You will also need a silicone based sealant W10841140 to seal the gearcase cover to the gearcase housing. Both parts are in stock and available at this time. Thanks, Read More...
Dale September 11, 2016 for Model Number Maytag fav680aww Took washer apart today to replace bearings and seals, I lost about half the oil in transmission it is now about 1/4 full manual states it should be 1/3 full. Is this the right oil for it?
1 Answer Dale, Unfortunately there is no way to put oil back into the transmission. You would have to replace the transmission in this case but having 1/4 way full should work and should not cause any issue. Read More...
1 Answer Roper, All Whirlpool built top load washers use the same oil / lube in the gear case 350572. A suitable, acceptible substitute is 90 weight gear oil / differential lube, available at most auto parts supply businesses. Good Luck, Read More...
Al May 21, 2016 for Model Number 110.24712300 Kenmore series 70 washer...10 years old or more. Washer is slow to agitate, barely agitates at all and clothes not getting clean. But rinse and spin cycles are fine. Checked the agitator dog teeth and they look good, not rounded. Checked the coupler also no issues or breaks. Checked the clutch, can turn/ spin it some and lot of brake dust debris present. Checked the transmission gears (sears rebuilt trans) no broken teeth but gear oil is black. Seems like a little play in axle side to side, not sure what is normal though. Does the clutch impact agitation? Other suggestions. Thinking of changing clutch band and coupler while apart and transmission oil change. Would you advise differently?
1 Answer Al, While it would not be a bad idea to change the coupler and clutch band lining, it should not be necessary to replace the gearcase oil. As for the issue with the unit not agitating on a fast agitation and only on slow, could be a stuck switch on the motor. This would be most likely other than agitator dogs that are bad. The dogs can look good but still be defective. What you can do to check this is push in on the lid switch with the washer full of water and remove the cover over the dogs and watch them. If they appear to be skipping any then the issue will be the dogs. Read More...
John January 07, 2016 for Model Number LSR8133HQ0 Laid washer on its back overnight. Oil leaked. not sure how much I sopped up. It was yellow? Would transmission oil in this 15 year old washer be yellow?? Thanks, John
1 Answer Hello John. Yes, it is yellow and there is a weep hole it came out of. The unit should still have oil in it and will work fine without the oil that leaked out. Thanks. Read More...
