David S. March 09, 2015 for Model Number WTW5550XW2 Our Whirlpool Cabrio washer is only 3 years old. It sounds like the gear spline is slipping, especially on small loads. I replaced the cam and belt about 3 months ago, and saw wear on the pieces. It worked "ok" for about a month, then the noise started all over again. I pulled it back apart today and see wear on the new cam spline and the gear spline. I'm assuming it is a total gearbox replacement now, but seems early for a metal to plastic spline to be wearing out. Your comment? Thanks.
1 Answer David, We agree with you, more or less, but it's more likely to be the shift actuator WPW10006355 than a gearcase problem. The shift actuator is the component that raises and lowers the cam assembly to make the washer agitate and spin. If the actuator is loose, weak or not aligned properly the cams won't mesh correctly, and the washer will make noise and the cam gears will wear excessively. Read More...
Timothy February 12, 2015 for Model Number WTW5700XW0 My whirlpool cabrio washer will not agitate. You can hear the motor working and yet the tub doesn't move. It will spin and drain just fine. What could be wrong?
1 Answer Timothy, The most likely cause for the issue with the unit would be the shift actuator not engaging the agitation. The part number for the actuator would be part number WPW10006355. Read More...
Tim February 05, 2015 for Model Number kenmore washer model# 110.21302013 My washer is working fine but it has a loud agitation.
1 Answer Tim, If the noise is only during agitation then you will want to make sure that you are not overloading the unit. Check the actuator to make sure that it is working properly and if all checks ok then it could be a faulty gearcase. Read More...
Chris January 08, 2015 for Model Number maytag mvwx700xw During spin mode the inner basket makes a squeaking noise. The faster it spins the louder it gets. Also makes noise when spinning by hand. Almost sounds like plastic rubbing it is not a grinding noise. The noise is coming from the bottom of the tub.
1 Answer Chris, With the unit making the squeaking noise under the tub then the issue will most likely be caused by a faulty hub W10324651. You will want to make sure that there is nothing caught in between the tubs. Read More...
Phillip December 28, 2014 for Model Number MVW600XWO Maytag Bravo lid lock just blinks. Sometimes it locks and the motor get hot and move slightly but nothing happens. The machine just hums and I can feel the power cord getting warm. Thanks.
1 Answer Hello Phillip. First check the water valve to see if it is bad and not letting in water. If it is good, then next would be replacing the lid lock. If the lid is not locking, the unit will not run. Read More...

Keith November 01, 2014 for Model Number wtw4950xw0 I took the lid lock off of the lid to watch the operation of my washer. What I found is the washer is not agitating. It spins fine but will not wash the clothes. It sounds like it is and operates ok but like I said the tub and small agitator do not move. What is the problem? Does this sound like the transmission or something else? Please help.
1 Answer Hello Keith, This can be the motor, the shift actuator, or the gearcase. The recommended way of diagnosis is by using the diagnostic test modes built into the control. The tech sheet contains the test procedures for pinpointing the units' issue. This is usually found in a plastic ziplock baggy adhered to the inside of the front panel of the unit. Page 2 starts the diagnostic procedure. Read More...

Chris P. May 20, 2014 for Model Number Wtw5600xwo Bearing is noisy but I don't see a bearing listed on the diagram. Is it in gear case? If it is, does the gear case come with the seal and hub I know that will need replaced. The more I look at this unit, I realize that it is an expensive piece of junk.
1 Answer Hello Chris, The bearing is only available with the gearcase assembly W11132267 as you suspected. The seal is available as part number W10324647. Read More...
