This dishwasher heater mounts at the bottom of the tub to raise wash-water temperature and boost the heated dry cycle. Replacing a failed element restores proper heating, helping cycles finish on time and improving drying performance.

  • Heats wash water to the correct temperature for effective cleaning
  • Aids the dry cycle by evaporating moisture from dishes
  • Common symptoms of failure: dishes not drying, water staying cool, longer-than-normal cycles, sanitize option not reaching target temperature
  • May show visible damage or test open for continuity
What's included: 1 heating element Install notes:
  • Disconnect power and shut off water supply before servicing
  • Pull the dishwasher forward for access to the underside
  • Remove wires and retaining nuts from the old element; lift it out through the tub openings
  • Seat the new element evenly, tighten hardware securely without overtightening, reconnect wires, then run a short cycle and check for leaks at the ports

James for Model Number KBFS20EVWH2

Good afternoon. I have a Kitchenaid fridge w/ freezer below. KBFS20EVWH2 Had major ice build up on evaporator, inlet coil, and bi-metal defrost switch. Everything else works great and appears functional other than finding the source of major defrosting issue. Bi-metal switch closes contact once cooled below 40F° in this case (0.3 ohms) and then opens up to +40k ohms when warmed. The defrost heater measures 26 ohms DC. I tried to simulate a the defost heater to come on by shorting the bimetal switch while I have things apart. No power seems to come to the heater. It did not seem to heat even after 10 minutes. I tested power leads disconnected coming into heater w/ MM set in AC volts. Nothing measurable. Any suggestions for simulating/checking to assure this will go into defrost? Maybe a control board/timer issue? Thanks for any help

Hello James, this may be a control board problem, the Service Mode which includes a defrost system test is listed on the Tech Sheet that came with your model, it should be located under the front lower grill, if missing please contact our Customer Service (1-877-477-7278) and request if a copy can be emailed to you.

John, if the model number of your appliance could be provided, this will allow for the most accurate information to be presented. Generally speaking, the back wall of the freezer or refrigerator (depending if the unit has one or two evaporators) will have an evaporator cover that would need to be removed. This will allow access to the evaporator and the heater that sits directly underneath.

Hello Rod, I'm sorry but we will need to ask you to please post a new question including the verified model number from the units' I.D. tag since the one provided will not come up for us as a valid model number. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.

Hello Bob. If the fill tube is freezing in the unit, you will need to order and replace the water valve unit. It has a slow leak that is causing the fill tube to freeze on the unit.

Hello Bob, If clearing the drain and chasing it with a piece of weedeater line does not correct the issue and the "P trap" did not correct, you may need to add a defrost drain heater 819043.

Bob, You will need to remove the screws for the evaporator and there will be 2 bands that need to be removed to take the heater out. When you get the screws out slightly bring the evaporator out so that you can get the heater out but make sure that you gently bring it out so that you do not kink the lines.

Liz for Model Number GX5FHTXVY08

Whirpool refrigerator - the refrigerator is freezing our food and drinks. We have replaced the Air Damper Control Assembly and the control board. I'm thinking we need to replace the thermostat? Do you think this would resolve the problem if so is this something that is easily installed - we were able to replace the damper control assembly ourselves. Also do you have the part in stock and what is the cost? Do you also have a video for the installation? Thank you Liz
