The Drum Mounting Hub is an OEM part for Whirlpool washing machines. This hub connects the washer drum to the drive system, allowing the drum to spin during the wash and spin cycles. Louis, The hub is screwed down using bolts and once the bolts are removed it may have to be tapped out as it could be stuck.

Hello Mike, These can be fun to remove. Try chasing the splines with a tiny screwdriver to remove sedimentation that may be stuck on the shaft. This will be a detergent and lint accumulation. Once clean, push the tub assembly all the way down and jerk it straight up repeatedly. After doing this several times, it will normally come out.

Mike, The hub would being worn would be a cause for the noise that you hear but also the drive block would also need to be replaced to correct the issue.
