This water inlet valve regulates the flow of household water into the dishwasher at the start of each cycle. Replacing a weak, clogged, or leaking valve restores proper fill level for reliable performance and helps prevent leaks or fill errors.

  • Opens to allow the correct amount of water into the tub; closes to stop the fill
  • Common fix for dishwasher not filling or taking too long to fill
  • Can resolve low water level that leads to poor cleaning results
  • May stop water from seeping into the tub when the dishwasher is off
  • Replace if the valve body leaks or the inlet screen is damaged/clogged
What's included: 1 water inlet valve assembly Install notes:
  • Disconnect power and turn off the dishwasher's water supply before servicing
  • Access the valve behind the lower toe/kick panel; place a towel to catch residual water
  • Note wire and hose positions and move them to the new valve one-for-one
  • Restore water and power, then run a fill to check for leaks and proper operation

Ron, It could be the fill valve, but first check and make sure the fill hose and fill valve debris screens are not clogged. Make sure your hot water temperature is 120 dgrs.F. and your cold water is not too cold. Any one of these issues could cause the washer temperature to fluctuate or exceed the bi metal switch perameters.

Hello Frank. If you can stop the water from entering the machine by turning off the timer or unplugging the unit, you will need to look for a bad pressure hose or replace the pressure switch. If the only way to shut off the water is at the shut off for the water hoses, you will need to replace the water valve WP8578341 in the unit.

Al, Your washer is probably operating "normally". The water valve WP8578341 has a thermistor or bi metal installed in the water flow. Based on the temperature selected, the water valve cycles the hot and cold water solenoids off and on, in an attempt to reach the prescribed water temperature. A quick, easy check, fill the washer on a hot wash setting, take a thermometer and set it in the water for a few minutes, the water temperature in the tub should be in the neighbor hood of 110 dgrs. F. +/- 10 %. If you're in that range then the washer is working properly. Thanks and Good Luck

Hi Don. The water valve is part # WP8578341. Did you take the hose off and try to put it in a bucket to insure the water house supply valve and hose is not clogged? It should take a professional well under an hour to remove the cabinet and access the valve. Thank you.
