This water inlet valve regulates the flow of household water into the dishwasher at the start of each cycle. Replacing a weak, clogged, or leaking valve restores proper fill level for reliable performance and helps prevent leaks or fill errors.

  • Opens to allow the correct amount of water into the tub; closes to stop the fill
  • Common fix for dishwasher not filling or taking too long to fill
  • Can resolve low water level that leads to poor cleaning results
  • May stop water from seeping into the tub when the dishwasher is off
  • Replace if the valve body leaks or the inlet screen is damaged/clogged
What's included: 1 water inlet valve assembly Install notes:
  • Disconnect power and turn off the dishwasher's water supply before servicing
  • Access the valve behind the lower toe/kick panel; place a towel to catch residual water
  • Note wire and hose positions and move them to the new valve one-for-one
  • Restore water and power, then run a fill to check for leaks and proper operation

Hello Teresa, This sounds like the water supply hoses are switched in the rear of the washer. The only other thing that could cause this is a bad bi-metal on the water valve WP8578341.

EJ, You can remove the hose and try to use a small toothbrush and soapy water to get the screen clean in the valve. Or try spraying water into the valve to get this cleaned. To access the valve you will use a putty knife under the corners of the control panel and pop the control panel free. Once you do this then there will be 2 clips to remove to remove the cabinet of the unit.

Dennis, The best option to determine a leak would be to turn the unit on and run the water and then start looking for leaks. Check the water valve the hoses and check to see if maybe it is the tub leaking where the rotor and stator are. If there is a tub seal leak then the the bearings would need replaced.

Mitch, It sounds like you may have gotten a valve that is not fully opening. The flow can be affected by the pressure at the hoses so if the pressure on the hoses is not the same then it would run slower.
